idk if this perspective is cuz of my age, but it seems to me that bush and his crew of rumsfeld and all them.... they are more evil than trump.

I say cuz of my age cuz back then, I was protesting, and campaigning against them. I was much more involved. whereas now, I mostly just stay out of it.

but the whole WMD lie to trick people into invading iraq for decades.... I mean that is some seriously big balled evil AF ****. I don't see trump pulling something like that off, whether it's cuz he just doesn't have the balls, competence or evilness, idk. but trump is more of a buffoon. george w was a buffoon too, but the people around him and calling the shots were not buffoons.

Trump is perfectly happy to genocide Gaza over a real estate deal. I'm not into weighing that against Kissingers motivations but it prolly works out to the same thing.

oh yeah. I'm ashamed to admit this, but I actually forgot about the genocide in Gaza. i've been trying to kinda block that out for literally 20 years now.

and yeah, trump is def ok with it, but he didn't come up with a huge lie about WMD and convince everyone we have to genocide palestine. his role in the genocide is more passive.

but idk, maybe trump is just as evil as rumsfeld and all them. but for me I get more of a grossed out vibe from trump, like grab em by the pussy, and eat mcdonalds, and more kind of unaware/uncaring about the plight of others.... where the vibe i get from rumsfeld is actively evil, legislating torture, planning the **** out over decades

I think there's certainly some people left of centre (from liberals to the communists who are all the way around the horseshoe) that are having some schadenfreude right now, but not many. Anybody who can notice how badly Trump is ****ing over his voters also sees how bad it is for everyone else and it's hard to take joy in that if you aren't a sociopath.

To filthy's point: I think Trump et al are just as evil as Bush's crew, but that shows up in a different way. Stephen Miller and that bunch are trying to build a white ethnostate, and shipping innocent people to foreign concentration camps. They are building up troops at the southern border to "fight fentanyl", and armed soldiers rarely end up doing good things. They have threatened violent takeovers of three allied countries (economic warfare kills people as surely as bombs do) and they're currently intentionally destroying the world economy in an attempt to force other countries & american companies to grovel for favours - all to increase their own power.

The only thing that gives me hope right now is that Trump and his toadies are just the dumbest ****ing people, whose brains have marinated in online conspiracy-theory-rape-culture bullshit for so long they can't process reality anymore.

I don't find the dead cat bounce to be an apt metaphor for multiple reasons that are too gruesome/mathematically rigorous to fit in the margin.

I agree whole-heartedly, and I know that this is going to be an unpopular take for some here - but I ****ing love America.

I love the statue of liberty, the idea of the "melting pot" nation, the anti-monarchic ethos, the bill of rights, the trading port of the entire ****ing world...

We are not perfect. We don't always live up to our ideals; ****, we have failed them miserably many, many times - but we cling to them, we strive for them.

Right now, we are witnessing the dismantling of "what it means to be an American" on a massive scale.

These people currently in power, they do not love America. They are actively destroying it.
