Game 1: Nich vs IBD

Maybe mug if the breakfast is literal. Unlikely though as I think it's a more fancy place that a diner that has mugs.
BTW I haven't seen the movie or read the book.
I think it's a romantic comedy and it has Mickey Rooney doing a racist impression of a Chinese person.
Maybe match if it's a romance.
You seem to know about it more than I do.
I'm good with film. Not sure about anything else. Probably okay with what you decide.
Film was our next word and we still got a 3 clue.
Normally I'd say it means that's definitely not our word but Zurvan argued against that logic in a previous game.
We got our 2 Sister Act words (Organ and Casino I think) and to him that list is done with and we're now playing with a clean slate.
Thoughts on that?
We might currently havd 0 words lol
We could be done with Sister Act. Really don't know, never seen it.
After second thought, maybe we shouldn't do Film. I don't think we're winning here, and I'd like to see them figure it out.
If it's a romance, maybe we should just do match/pass.
Could this be literal and not plot related?
Cook
Mug
are both breakfast words. Even if they're not integral to the plot it doesn't mean they can't be the answers.
you can't clue for a word in the title
only the whole movie or book or song as a concept
like acronyms you can't clue FBI for dresser because bureau is a word there
But I'm sure they have breakfast at some point in the movie. A cook probably cooked it. Even if they drink from teacups only in the movie it's a 2 step connection to get to mug.
I'm not convinced that this is the right idea or even what's being clued, but it is to at least be considered imo.
I agree with Nich that's how the rules should work, but this is new, so I'm not going to blast Zurvan if this is Cook/Mug solely because Breakfast is in the title.
That said, I don't really want to guess that way.
There probably was breakfast in the movie, although I did see Licorice Pizza, which didn't have licorice nor pizza (but did have an awful romantic plot between a 9th grader and a 25-year old).
Point being, I think you're right about it being a romantic comedy, but know nothing about the plot nor who had anything to do with it besides Audrey Hepburn.

Hopefully we get another shot at this and Blue don't run the board.

The Lego Movie - 0
this was our list:
Film - likely not ours, even though it's not theirs and they avoided film first clue and we didn't
Staff - there is lego Gandalf with his staff but such a small thing in the movie I doubt this removes it
Block - not ours
Root
Space
coulda done Minecraft Movie but I don't see any real differences with word list between the two
not sure if he coulda done block without doing a movie tho, so maybe film isn't 100% not ours, but for now I'd skip it
staff, root, space puts us at 4 and we need to get to 8
gonna need more Guys and Dolls and more Truman Show and then eliminate any others that aren't lego movie or could be Breakfast at Tiffany's
You missed Club
Club
Film - Hit
Staff
Block - Hit
Root
Space - Don't they get a spaceship in the Lego Movie?
And then in round one we had
Police - ?
Club
Staff
Root
Police?
?
Oh police is out.
So what are we missing for Truman?
Slip?
Does someone Parachute onto the set sometime?
bump
Block - no, Lego Movie
Club - likely Guys and Dolls
Cold - no known connection
Cook - no known connection
Film - first 2 clues are films; obviously Lego Movie is also, though
Hood - Truman's neighborhood; maybe Guys and Dolls connection? no Lego connection
Moscow - no known connection
Mug - no known connection
Oil - no known connection
Parachute - no known connection
Paste - no, this is the villain in Lego Movie
Root - viewers rooting for Truman; no known Lego connection (Minecraft would have hit this one more)
Slip - no known connection, but maybe some Guys and Dolls thing?
Space - the fake space dome in Truman Show?
Staff - everyone around Truman is on the staff
Unicorn - no known connection
some sort of connection:
Club
Root
Space
Staff
maybe:
Film (neutral at worst)
Hood
Slip?
definitely not:
block
paste
our list when he gave us unlimited clue:
Film
Staff
block - no, Lego
root
police - neutral
space
slip
our list when he gave us 0 clue:
Club
Film
Staff
Block - no, Lego
Root
Space
I think we have to go with film/staff/club/root/space/slip and then I think hood is next best since it likely hits both of first 2 films and anything else seems much stretchier
film could be neutral, but he did do unlimited turn 2 when it was top of list and we had 1 so wasn't likely doing the '2nd on list only' version of that like at end game
we could do it more down list in case it's neutral, but if it's wrong they just need 2 more and getting a bunch cleared up makes their last turn easier if we don't run the table this turn
I don't see how The Lego Movie doesn't hit film here. If you wanted to rule out block without ruling out film, you pick something that isn't a film to hit block. Maybe, perhaps, The NBA on NBC. You jump to TV, then you avoid film. It literally has Movie in the name. I feel like it can't possibly be hitting film any harder.
Level 1 thinking when we get this 0 clue STARTS WITH
Club
Staff
Root
Space
Starting to think unlimited actually did mean 'skip the first word' even if this wasn't endgame. That's fine. That's gettable by us.
Just spitballing
Truman Show - 5
Staff
Root
Hood
Slip
Space
Guys and Dolls - unlimited
Club
The Lego Movie - 0
Get us on the above six. Was Luck just a fluke?
Meaning we have to find one more Guys and Dolls word to win here?
luck be a lady is probably 90% of why he clued Guys and Dolls; no chance it's a fluke
any other word on our list that could hit Guys and Dolls is a weaker connection than luck
turn 1:
they went with tv show not a movie, likely to avoid film
we went with a movie right off the bat, making film an obvious guess (could be neutral tho)
turn 2:
he clued another movie, but one based on a musical
but more importantly, he did unlimited
unlimited means "keep going down your list" unless it's very end game and you want to skip to 2nd word on list, but that's not when we have 1 word guessed so far
now, it's possible that film is neutral and he knew we'd hit it as a blocker on turn one or two, but was ok with that in early game
turn 3:
he clued Lego Movie - 0 to get us off block and maybe film
he already started the game with 2 films and an unlimited clue, so he probably wasn't worried about Lego Movie moving us off film, but it is possible
there aren't great non-movie options for block, tho maybe the iffy NBA on NBC or something similar could have been used?
I think we are aligned on 6 words: club, root, space, staff, hood, split so we could just start with those and then decide on film vs something else after
I just don't see ANYTHING that hits anything at all from the rest of the words other than film hitting our first 2 + unlimited clue meaning film is ours...but if alive after these 6 then we can look at the smaller list and discuss
Okay yeah, I'm fine with guessing film last.
Club
Root
Space
Staff
Hood

Film
No, wanted to guess everything but film and see if alive and then look at final options
Film could be neutral with Lego movie 0 clue
