First thought for capitalization is Fire Marshall Bill. Will look closer a little later

Not sure who Fire Marshall Bill is, but I trust you that it's a thing.

We have to win here, and I don't see any way we don't say 2+ of our list words since he said unlimited.

Fire Marshall Bill is a character that Jim Carey played at SNL. Basically a fire Marshall in a skit where he's supposed to be teaching kids about fire safety but keeps burning stuff down and setting himself on fire

Our current list sounds like the thing of nightmares, lol. Giant ghost robot.

Australia had a bunch of fires somewhat recently. I think that's in the mix.

Bill
Australia
Giant
Ghost

and see if we're alive?

It's going to be a massive stretch regardless. Neil seems like he's in the same position I was in last game: Forced to win in 2, so have to take some iffy shots at things.

Hey, sorry. I'll get to this in the morning. Got caught up with some BS tonight and need to get to bed.

Full list with just Fire clue in mind:

Australia - australia is hot and has been known for some major fires in recent times
Bill - Fire Marshall Bill (hoping this was the reference)
Bolt - lightning bolt can start fires, bolt is a firearm component
Box - not seeing it
Fan - you fan a fire to stoke it
Ghost - no
Giant - no
Greece - no
Mug - you can fire a mug in a kiln...probably a stretch
Pin - firing pin
Robot - no
Row - no
Spot - is a fire spot a thing? probably a no
Switch - so, a fireman's switch is a thing. You see them on the outside of large buildings, if you've ever been to NYC, Chicago, etc...you've seen these outside of buildings often near a standpipe
Washer - dont see it
Well - use water from a well to put out a fire?

So for Fire I see these as possibilities:
Australia
Bill
Pin

Bolt
Fan
Mug
Switch
Well

The clue is unlimited, so that has to mean we have multiple correct words on our list. Otherwise we get Fire - 5 (with double cluing) or Fire - 4 (n-1, Giant being the makeup). Also to note, it means we would have just gotten lucky with one or two of our list words. I can actually see both ghost and giant fitting emperor, even tho they obviously both werent for it. Given that, I think your four are what we probably have to guess, and if alive we discuss the best final word for fire.

Bill
Australia
Giant
Ghost

Airplane - 4
Emperor - 3
meat - 2
Fire - unlimited

Australia
Bolt
Box
Fan
Ghost
Giant
Greece
Mug
Pin
Robot
Row
Spot
Switch
Washer
Well

Film
Paper
Missile
Himalayas
Heart
Kangaroo
Row
Bill

Doctor
China
Penguin

audience - 1

Fan sounds right. Let’s agonize over it for a day or two.

maybe he misread washer as watcher

The Fan was another movie; tho so is Ghost and a bunch of other words on this list

fan

welp. sorry about getting the capitalization idea wrong

I agonized a long time over whether to capitalize the Airplane. I wanted you to catch film, and I wasn't sure if you'd guess it without the capital. I have also seen the movie one time, 25 years ago, when I was pretty drunk, so don't remember any of the details (like that the main character was a Doctor lol), so I knew there was likely a landmine in there somewhere.

Good work team

yeah we don't guess it without the capital; Doctor was a risky guess because easy to overlook; didn't love enough other stuff tho, but row does seem pretty obvious

great cluing

I was playing along, was certain Box was for airplane as they have black boxes lol

Sorry Neil...I actually thought we were gonna be close at the end there.

I gotta hear about that capitalization of Fire. I'm wondering if you were thinking 'grease fire', grease -> Greece, capitalized to hit Greece? If so just want to point out that I don't believe it's a legal clue to try and hit unrelated words that are pronounced the same as a third word not on the board. Nich, correct me if I'm wrong. Or maybe Greece was part of Emperor and we just got jumbled?

Either way, that's a tough board and we were never winning seeing the complete board now. Being forced to clue for a win with your second clue is nearly impossible, really nothing we could do.

There's been wildfires in Greece in the news lately, maybe to do with that

If this was the line for Fire, then it’s 100% not a legal clue.

Yeah grease->greece wouldn’t be legal from the cluer standpoint

Also capitalizing a typically non-capitalized word for the sole purpose of clueing a proper noun is not legal.
