SIDES - Inaugural Game Thread
In this thread, we will play a new word game called Sides. It's somewhat similar to codenames, but cooperative and different.
Sign up with /in below if you want to play.
In this game, a target word will be randed as will a row of 7 cards that have letters on them (most 1 letter, some 2/3/4 letters).
2 people will be the guessers and everyone else will be able to give a clue.
The clue given must start with the letter on either the first or last card (the 'sides' of the row).
We discuss as a team who will give the clue with open discussion in the thread such as "I have a 7 letter word starting with a C"
Once there is some agreement on who gives the clue, that person will bold the clue they want to give in the thread.
The two guessers will then discuss in the thread and bold their guess. If it's correct, we move on to the next guessers and the next word. If wrong, then the clue givers post some info like "you are warm" or "you are about 30% there" etc to give directional info on how on track/off track their guess is.
Then they discuss and give another clue. But the person who bolded a clue cannot give another clue for the same word until everyone on the cluing side has clued a word (if we take that long to get the word), so one person can't hog the cluing.
Clues have to be one word, or an acronym, etc like in codenames; they can be hyphenated words
We can also give some info on how the clues relate to each other, or even say a clue is a 0 clue, so the opposite of what cluing for (e.g., clue 'colorful' as an opposite clue because the word is zebra)
I'll provide more details and examples in the thread in the morning, but this should be enough info for you to /in and join so we can play.

We shoukd have kept "bottle."
I have a c6/s7 combo that I believe Nich will figure out with his Sherlock Holmes savant like skills.
Woof, I'm drawing a blank currently
I don't expect anyone on the team to get the c6 I have. It's related to a c8 that isn't necessarily obvious either. The s7 is more direct. I'm asking for some trust that this combo gets us there.
If anyone has other ideas I'm all for it.
I’m fine with whatever you want, bolt. I’ve got nothing. But someone other than you better know this S7, because they’ll have to clue it.
Yea I'm all good with the trust, we just need someone to know one of the words to complete the dynamic duo
Normally I'd give the s7 first, followed by c6 or c8 to clarify it and steer them in the right direction.
D1 will prolly have a great 1-shot clue
Yeah, this is hard.
I have a pretty good m6 > s4 combo that should work, but don't see any conceivable way we get this in 1. Also another m8 into s8 that is similar.
I think I know the m8/s8 and we can make it work. there's also a possibility that my s7 is a shadowfax clue.
Can s4 be s5? And with a different s5 sorta hit?
If it's not too hard then I should know s4? I dunno the M but imagine you can start with that and hopefully bolt is on the same wavelength or me w the s4, maybe another hint or 2 for us lol
I think if I clue the M8 that I suspected D1 had (but probably didn't) then the team will know what s4/s5 word to clue next to get us there.
I'm game
It's been a long enough wait.
Michelin
I'm not sure about s4. The m8 I'm thinking of is similar to c11. If you think I have it you can give me the thumbs up.
C11 like Michelin is Continental, another major tire maker
Haven’t looked at everything yet but that stood out
So thinking this is more tire related than restaurant/star related
Bump
Yeah I’ve been busy with people in town so haven’t had a chance yet to look at this
Should have time tonight around midnight
any thoughts zeus? this one is a tough one
Michelin = tire, wheel, rubber, car, racing words or stars, guide, restaurants, chefs or the Michelin Man, their mascot who is kinda like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man but made of fluffy tires instead
s8 = suitcase, s5 = spare -> trunk of car holds spare tire and suitcases; so trunk is an option, but no c5 crate or tree word mentions makes this prolly not right
s8 = sidewall, s4 similar = side -> hubcap, rubber, tread, wheel, rims, etc
I think the more direct s word is gonna be needed for this because this isn't obvious from Michelin and there are so many options of what c and s can be
I do like c11 being Continental tires, which would make this for the tire/wheel/rubber/car/racing words, not stars/restaurants or the Michelin Man
could be a random car part like engine, transmission, radiator, exhaust, etc but tough to get without knowing the c/s words
s7 direct is the one I'm going to think about a bit more now that Michelin narrowed it down, presumably...hopefully I'm not thinking inside the wrong box tho
also lots of things have tires besides cars
words like wagon, wheelbarrow, dolly etc woulda had cart or carry c4/c5 mentions
but maybe it's some other item with a wheel and not a car tire
s7 could be spoiler -> trunk again
s7 could be speaker so car audio related
s7 could be service so mechanic or oil change or something
may be too many options here
