TV Draft - Game Thread
Welcome to the TV Draft
Here is the pick order:
1. Nich
2. ak56
3. D1abolical
4. Filthy
5. Xander
6. Zurvan
7. Dr Zeus
8. bolt211
I will take Banshee in the action category. This show is so over the top ridiculous, and so much fun. One of the most bingeable shows of all time imo.
For 10+ seasons, I'll take Monday Night Football. When it premiered it was definitely must-see TV, not just for the game but more so for the announcing trio of Howard Cosell, Don Meredith and Frank Gifford.
How has nobody taken [redacted] yet
For sitcom I'll take one that is a little different from normal sitcoms. A bit more meta, with one character who actually tries to put them into sitcom tropes like bottle episodes.
The characters and the show are great on their own, but it also has many stand-out episodes of fun themes like paintball wars, zombie attack, the floor is lava, blanket forts, and social media apps that put it a step above the normal good sitcom. There are episodes about alternate realities, animated episodes, claymation episodes, a trampoline episode, one where they are in GI Joe the 80s cartoon, etc. etc. Not all of those hit, but many do. Plus you have Abed's side quests in the background that you don't even realize until a second watch through. And Chang (played by Ken Jeong) has one of the most dynamic and changing character arcs of any character on any show.
Community for Sitcom
For SciFi/Action/Horror/Action/War show i'll take a show that tugs at my 80s childhood nostalgia
Stranger Things
As a wild card I will take:
What We Do in the Shadows
1. Nich
2. ak56
3. D1abolical
4. Filthy
5. Xander
6. Zurvan
7. Dr Zeus
8. bolt2112
I'm on deck. no need to PM me. I check the thread
For sitcom, I'll take Father Ted.
never mind let me repick
"saving hope" for medical procedural
little known Canadian show. I liked it!!! the head of surgery at hope Zion goes into a coma. his ghost wanders the hospital, trying to help patients and his friends and coworkers
For Sitcom I'm going to pick Don't Hug Me I'm Scared
It's dark, it's funny, it's original and there are more layers than an onion to it. Everything has meaning and nothing is given away.
For Sitcom, I'm going to go ahead and pick one of my favourite shows, and my favourite of the category. It has a good mix of zany comedy, smart jokes, long running bits, and does it with heart. The unreliable narrator makes for some fun storytelling opportunities other shows don't give you. Some of it hasn't aged too well, and probably only worked in the first place because Neil Patrick Harris is pure charisma.
How I Met Your Mother
As for the ending:
Spoiler
I hate that they gave Ted the happy ending with Robin. It's a much better story overall if they just leave it with him mourning Tracy - then the show becomes a tribute to her, rather than to Robin, and I think that would have been an amazing ending.
The last cigarette ever episode is one of my favourites of all time
Love HIMYM
The Barney girl stuff wasnβt appropriate at the time it aired, so didnβt even need to age, but yeah his charm and the way they did it it just works and comes across as a satire of bar girl chasers rather than creepy somehow
I donβt hate the ending like many; not amazing or bad, just an ending and donβt let it affect my thoughts on the show
police show I'm taking line of duty a sick UK tv show that transfixed a nation
oh line of duty. nice one. I forgot about that show
I just noticed - bolt and xander both have two sitcoms, and xander already has a wild card. We should correct that before the end of the draft (but everyone else can carry on drafting)

I only have Seinfeld as a sitcom. I hoped to slide Northern Exposure as a medical show but it's not listed that way on imdb, so that's my wildcard.
These should be my last 2 picks.
Medical: Emergency!
Sci-Fi: Star Trek TNG
Medical: Green wing!
I have no idea how popular this show is, but it's the only reality series in regular rotation except BB and Survivor.
MasterChef. I prefer the challenges to [redacted], and think it's a fun summer show with yummy looking food, but still enough room for people to hilariously **** the bed
