Amp, that squirrel looks like it is ready for a harsh winter. That dude is packing it on.

Are you suggesting i overfeed my squirrels? He’s hunched over and big boned.

I'm saying the squirrels vet may be prescribing him a statin.

Jokes on you, I don’t take him to the vet.

Squirrels only live five years at best, what is it gonna do, extend him out to September?

Complaint: Lobsters are immortal while squirrels only live five years.

Plus it's all about quality of life.

Also the neighborhood owls appreciate the Wagyu squirrel meat.

I got a beautiful fireworks show whilst taking the dogs to the park. The whole neighborhood smells like gunpowder.

In addition to smelling like gunpowder it FEELS like gunpowder. If it were any more humid we’d be underwater. Insane.

Kind of chilly here. Jacket and sweats for fireworks.

Cool! Artemis Astronauts

mark, or anyone.... do you know if the artemis astronauts had bad luck with solar activity, would they just all be dead? idk how it works.

i vaguely remember that fairly recently we missed some kind of solar activity that would have fried all our satellites, and i think maybe our power grid on earth too. like all of us living creatures would have been fine, but only cuz we would have been protected by our atmosphere.

like the sun shot out a bunch of radiation, and it missed our orbit by a month or few. but still aurora borealis were showing up all over for a few days or so

btw this is the fireworks I'm talking about in LA, and this video was made after I posted. it's like this every year.

it's not as bad as this every day, but fireworks go off in LA every single day of the year

yeah without the atmosphere and the big magnetic field you get cooked by solar radiation and cosmic rays

low earth orbit is no issue but being on the other side of the moon is an issue

spacecraft have shielding idk how well it works probably pretty well

I haven’t been following the Space Weather forecast so idk about any recent events.

LA is one of the most densely populated spaces on earth. If 1/1000 people on any given day want to set off fireworks, they are going off all the time, you live next to ten million people.

oh right. its coming back to me somewhat. I think I heard that the plan for Mars is maybe using water as a shield.

but I don't think Artemis had shielding?

water as a shield is kinda like compressed atmosphere right? the lil rays are gonna hit one of the lil water hydrogens eventually.

I looked it up and the moon craft doesn’t have sufficient shielding, no. They have to spin it around to point their heaviest stuff at the biggest source of incoming rays, use certain trajectories etc. It’s not safe.

Filthy, that video is from 2020... But I'm sure things were still booming in LA.

ah thanks Mark. I suspected it might be old

by filthyvermin

definitely not. I hate America.

Can you not afford to leave?

0th world problem incoming:

I got a new phone with a new company and the signal for both phone calls and mobile internet is dreadful where I work.

But I got on the work WiFi, enabled WiFi calling so almost all is well.

I say almost because the WiFi at work does not allow me to visit 2+2 because it's a gambling website.

No more browsing or posting from work.

Luckily site is pretty quiet so not that much to browse.

Filthy, NASA has got your back:

Lamb took a tumble at the park and somehow came up with a laceration on her face so we’re at the emergency vet.

I opened it up to look inside and it’s super deep, I can see the inside of her face. She’s fine but this needs a few stitches.

The vet techs have already given Lamb the ”sweetness award” for being a perfect sweetie.

Good dog!
