Travel day back from Vegas today. No action.
Seems like a bunch of players on bad teams are spending more time setting up their tee times than playing hockey. Juice is ridiculous though.
Oilers @ Stars should be fun tomorrow. My buddy has an extra ticket but I'm exhausted. 3 hour drive to the game from where I live. I'm such a wussy.

First tiebreak is regulation wins, then Regulation + OT wins. No head to head afaik.

That is the most impressive game I've seen the Stars play this year. Usually if they get up 2 or especially 3 goals they play that stupid 'pevent defense' where you just clear the zone, make a change, and then skate around in a semi-circle and try to block shots. I yell at the TV every time they do this.
For whatever reason they pressured the puck for 60 minutes on both ends of the ice. Yay! They were still firing pucks on goal up 5 at the end of the game.
Oilers certainly had their scoring chances. Just one of those games where nothing went in combined with the goalie having one of his best games of the year.
If the Stars play like this in the post season, they will definitely be a tough out.

This is from a Stars homer website, but I concur. Stankoven is a rookie call up to boot.
I mean honestly, what are you supposed to do when you’re squaring off against Dallas? Eight of their Top 9 forwards have 50 points this season, and the only one who doesn’t (Logan Stankoven) has only played 18 games and would be on pace for 59 in a full season. The Stars’ top goal scorer (Wyatt Johnston) is 20 years old and plays on the third line, for crying out loud. People have been wondering why Jason Robertson isn’t scoring as many goals this season, but honestly it’s probably because he just doesn’t need to.
Maybe you just hope for fireworks and to somehow outscore the Stars. Except, oops, they have arguably the best defensive defenseman in the league in Miro Heiskanen, another defensive stalwart in new arrival Chris Tanev, and oh yeah, Thomas Harley is already a top pairing guy in his first full NHL season. At least Jake Oettinger has been struggling all seas-wait, my bad, he’s 6-0-0 in his last six starts with a .955 SV% and two shutouts, with 1 goal allowed in his last three games. So, uhh, vintage Oettinger might be back after all.
