the last time i had a correct pick
I was getting close to 1400…. Then I started playing this one very nice guy from Argentina who’s legit 1400+, and he keeps ROASTING me. I throw a ton of different openings at him… doesn’t matter.
We usually get into complicated, closed mid game positions, then he finds a way to make a trade advantageous to him, then like clockwork he trades down and chokes me off in the end game.
One time I worked into a rook advantage, and he had a knight, bishop, and pawn, and I still lost when I couldn’t stop him from promoting
Then, on tilt, I tried King’s Gambit as white, and threw absolutely everything at f7. Still didn’t matter lol..
As with poker, I enjoy playing opponents better than me, because I think it’s the best way to learn…. But vs him it just feels inevitable lol
