Joe Root opening the bowling is a thing

i think the comms said crawley hit 4 consecutive boundaries off bumrah

4 in an over, not all consecutive

Nothing has made me feel older this weekend than hearing that Ian Botham’s 25 year old grandson scored a try for Wales yesterday

SAs inexperienced attack bowled so well today in a tricky batting wicket, just let down in the field and tired in the last session

King Kane with his 30th Test ton, now averages over 55 in Tests

Ravindra with a very disciplined maiden century, great to see and its gotta be see ya later to Henry Nicholls

india trying to blow it again

well bugger me if Crawley isn't the only one playing semi responsibly

Root's shot was ****ing horrific

Plenty of fines going into the 15-50 club kitty

Make the Ravindra century a double... The kid is a freak and its glorious we should have 10+ years of him in all formats

Test cricket is just the best

Nothing better than sitting back with a cold brew watching your team accumulate a great score at a sensible pace while soaking in some sweet rays in between sessions

Are they playing South Africa’s 3rd team or their under 19s?

It is a good question. Why is it that our best players don't play BBL while the test cricket is on but the SA players play in their equivalent - while Indian money is nice the Indian money also needs to realise that test cricket trumps the limited form and needs to throw money behind SA national contracts

Mostly 2nd or 3rd team I reckon and its sad really. Their depth looked ok on day 1, their bowlers were the most disciplined Ive seen over here for such a long period, but most of their bowlers are 130kms and below. We also were so patient and have now taken advantage of their inexperience.

Love to see Kane get twin tons, regardless of the opposition. This feels like what it was like when you used to play Sri Lanka while they were green to Test cricket. Although its no walk in the park, pad your stats a bit.

heinrich klaasen in limited overs is terrifying. every time i see him he's got 40 off 20

and here he is in the SA t20 competition final needing 140 off 10 overs with a bunch of tailenders at the other end

go on then

Watching Kane bat these days is like Smith a few years ago. Just accumulates runs so easily and with style. Rachin appears to be the real deal. I hope they keep bowling him a lot in tests as he can become Jadeja on steroids.

I get the feeling he knows he needs to make the most of every knock now, hes getting on in years and our test schedules are very light.

All of the big 4 are aging out soon, although surely Jimmy Anderson is inspiring some people and Sachin batted till he was 40 very well so who knows?

Who are the next top 4 coming through the ranks? Predictions?

I think Rachin will be a great if he keeps his hunger

I’m not certain there’s a Pom

I don’t think Brook will continue with his form. I always watch Pope batting and think he should be averaging 50+ but his temperament is suspect

Also not sure there’s an obvious Aussie.

I don't think we'll see a top 3-4 like we did with Kohli/Kane/Smith/Root in their primes at around the same time period. It's a bowling era. Outside of these guys batting has been hard in this era. Just look at the averages for openers and tests rarely get drawn anymore.

South Africa giving a good account in this Test. I think they were hurt after the last match and have a few quality players who have stepped up.

Anywho, heres a link to an X thread that has all the England mens team as women

Kane GOAT

i would trade crawley and duckett for one shop soiled 29 year old alastair cook in a second, but being 90/1 after 13 overs is kind of fun and its happening a lot lately

If that LBW review against Pope had been against an Indian batsman I dread to think what the reaction would have been... Hit miles above the knee role quite far down the pitch and yet, somehow, just enough of it is crashing in to the top of leg stump to overturn the decision.
