NBA 2024-25 Season Thread
Lettuce NBA!
and lettuce lol @ James Harden
Lavine and Derozan reunited!
Spurs have nonzero equity at Flagg due to owning ATL's 2025 unprotected pick.
I got Spurs at 600-1 to title when I heard the Fox news earlier this week.
Now they're 150-1.
west is a free for all
besides OKC and maybe Denver, pretty much everyone else you give a good chance to either lose rd 1 or not make the playoffs at all
That seems like a really good deal for the Spurs.
Kept Castle. Didn’t give up the ATL picks. Turned that Rob Dilingham pick from Minny into Fox along with just one of their own?

I wasn't sure they would be able to get it done without including Castle. This is HUGE for them.
And no ATL 2025 pick??? Phenomenal.
A guy I work with knows Michael Finley. He used to play professional basketball (Not NBA) and has worked for a couple teams in sales. He says the Mavs have been concerned about Lucas drinking for a while. I don't know if this is directly related to the trade but my friend seems to think so with the impending max contract coming.
dont get me wrong I like what SA is doing moving the wemby timeline up in a wide open league but if they gotta pay fox his full max and then wemby/fox is your top 2 for the next 5-7 years.....
that does kinda seem like the worst outcome you could get when your starting point is wemby + picks + cap
maybe not worst outcome, but not a hard outcome to attain either
fox is solid top 25 player but you're definitely getting locked into him somewhat
This Fox-Lavine deal seems like a shitburger for the Bulls. I guess they had to get out from under Lavine's contract, but still.

my man is rolling around in his grave rn smdh
has anyone asked cp3 for comment on the trade yet? lol
I imagine CP3 might say "no comment" while shaking his head nonstop for 30 seconds.
CP3 ran pure with that anyway, which no one ever mentions
kobe was done soon after that and dwight was a bust on LAL anyway

Bullshit Binks.
But I agree with Ryen Russilo. If Luka dribbles the ball up the court with a beer while smoking a cigarette then I'm still giving him the super max.
The results justify it so let him get smashed every night if he wants.
The report now is LeBron wants to stay with the Lakers thru the trade deadline.
LeBron has never lied before though LOL.
I say it's 30% chance he lands in GSW.
Windy reported that apparently Lebron has wanted to play with Luka for many years. Now trade Reeves + the other white dude for KD.
trade bronny for sga imo

Don’t think Fox is good enough to be the #2 on a title team for most cases, but Wemby looks like he’s gonna be a Jokic/Giannis level guy within a couple years and those teams won with just OK second best players.
The price is just too good not to do this for them. If one of Vassell/Sochan/Castle pops then they are in an amazing position. If not, they still have enough capital to get a solid swing or bruiser big, or even both. Like if you stick say Bane/Hartenstein on here with a two year older Wemby that’s a title level team.
Also don’t think Fox is eligible for the super super max so they’ll have room for one more big guy anyways since the Wemby extension is going to be lower coming off the rookie deal.

Lol was just trying to timestamp the YouTube vid to that quote. "Luka could be smoking a cigarette bringing the ball up the ****ing court and id still ask him when he can sign he supermax"
Some organizations go 50 years or more without ever getting one Luka-level player and Lush Luka just willed them to the finals at 25. Lol drinking problem.
Edit: @26:46 if the time stamp doesn't work
Broken YouTube LinkMichael Finley snagging Luka's beer in the locker room after they won the WCF last year is one of my favorite videos. The writing was on the wall.
So there’s a nonzero chance the kings just got Flagg, among other things, for fox. Edit: nvm didn’t see it protected
And I'm pretty sure that the protection simply conveys to two second round picks after this draft and doesn't rollover as a future first with less protection. So that pick is really not valuable, considering the Hornets will certainly be in the lottery.
On the flipside, the Hornets own the '27 first round pick from the Mavs, with only top-2 protection. So this trade could work out nicely for us.
this is a misnomer
they like good value, they are not "cheap" the way poor and middle class people are
it's not even about the money, it's about the principle of not wanting any needless waste
ie when out for drinks, it's always people who work in the service industry who want to tip something like silly like buying a $6 drink and handing the bar tender $10 because they spend so much time on the other side that they get what that means
likewise, last night was playing at a poker game that had several dealers playing, easily the lowest networth people at the table - they would win an $80 pot and tip the dealer $15 of it not realizing that was literally almost half of their earnings that hand - obviously an unsustainable practice and sure enough all them left the table with empty pockets - mostly because they could never get ahead of the 8 ball tipping so much on their wins
i'm sure they looked at me tipping $1 on an $80 pot and thinking i'm a cheap bastard
