2025 Formula 1 Season
2025 Formula 1 discussion thread...
Did anyone else get an entirely new broadcasting unit for Qualifying or was it just Australian tv? I know Crofty isnβt doing every weekend any more but I didnβt recognise any of the voices yesterday.
It wasnβt great at all
I donβt think he was worrying about money when he made the decision to go there. Although Iβm certain heβs making piles
I do.
Hell of a drive for Max, that looked like Max from a couple years ago. Ferrari looked good as did Williams. Good to see Tsunoda get into the points from the pit road start. It sucks that Aston Martin weren't able to capitalize on their good qualifying yesterday. The VSC and SC really messed up strategy for several drivers.
Robert Shwartzman takes pole at Indy as a rookie (first rookie in like 40 years to do so). He finished 2nd to Piastri in F2 in 2021 and was a Ferrari reserve driver for a few years.
yeah... that's a great story.
as usual, starting on pole doesnt really mean anything... unless you 'loop it' coming to the green flag, then it actually means a WHOLE LOT>
I can tell weβre super excited about this race
"race"
When to make the first pit stop is the question. I expect those running in the back of the field to pit very early and hope the field stays close enough together that they can catch back up to the back of the pack and then undercut a bunch of cars once the rest pit.
Lots of cars out of position in terms of their starting position vs performance, so maybe there will be some passing? And of course someone is going to take themselves out by hitting their front left into the barrier.
Things might actually happen today.
TF is this broadcast on ESPN2. Cartoon avatars for drivers, scoring pylon with animated flags, and who TF are these broadcasters? What happened to the Sky F1 broadcast?
Between this and the fact that the Coke 600 isn't on broadcast TV this year, I'm on massive tilt already on the biggest racing day of the year.

Yeah, I'm an idiot. I had no idea the main broadcast was on ABC. The ESPN2 broadcast is some special "Young Broadcasters" thing.
This is intriguing but barely a motor race.
Yeah, it seems like this mandatory 2 stop rule is actually making things worse somehow. Lawson puttering around and making a 2 stop gap for Hadjar was smart, I guess, but has really effed everything up behind him. No idea what Mercedes is doing at this point. Stuck over 1 minute behind the leader, about to be lapped, and still need to make 2 stops. Now Sainz is puttering to make a pit stop gap for Albon.
Awful start to the best racing day of the year.

This isn't racing, let alone the biggest of the year
Russell deliberately passing Albon off the track, not giving the place back, getting a drive-through penalty and still coming out ahead of Albon after serving the penalty is wild.
F1 races that today's race was better than:
2021 Belgium
2005 Indianapolis
yeah... apparently so.
I feel so bad for those drivers this happens to, but I also have to chuckle a little bit.
Monaco was a fiasco in my humble.
I think the race needs to be removed from the calendar... OR, they need to change that format. as I said before, the answer is to change it into a 'time trial' format... Like 'World Rally' or 'Hill Climb' racing.
PS... doesn't look good for the 500, any rain is BIG trouble.
Russell saying he'd take the penalty and then getting hit with a drive through was my highlight of the day
It could not have happened to a better person
Monaco is an abomination of a race. **** money and traditions, get a better track on the calendar.

The craziest bit of it was that even with the drive-through he still came out ahead of Albon. It was obviously irrelevant by that point of the race but it shows there's something very wrong with how the race was being driven that overtaking off the track was beneficial even after serving a drive-through penalty for it.
the only thing good about Monaco are the qualifying sessions... it was even better many years ago where drivers were let out at regular intervals and allowed to make their runs a a solo car... that's how you tell who is fast and who is not.
this is how Monaco should be run... Like how World Rally Championship or Pikes Peak does it.
There shouldn't need to be a bunch of one-off racing rules to accommodate a single venue. The problem IS the venue. Change the track or dump it from the schedule. It's not racing.
TBF the Monaco qualy is better than many of the races.
It is the race that is ****
They should schedule it in rain season
