Norris wins this is noting crazy happens.

Very annoyed by Redbull, Tsunoda has his last race and he didn't even put a lap in Q3...

He had floor damage from the unsafe release from Kimi in the pit lane earlier in qualifying. He was pretty much guaranteed to finish on the 5th row in Q3. He's still a Red Bull reserve driver for next year, so he's not burning any bridges at this point. He's not battling for anything meaniningful in the driver's championship.

Slipstreaming Max to the pole was F1 strategy 101.

I just want to get this of my chest being behind one GP and just having watched Qatar - **** you McLaren..clear as ****ing day that you had to pit Oscar when the early SC was out but obviously didn't want to hurt Lando's chances by McLaren having to double stack and Lando bring shuffled down the order - Oscar to Ferrari at the end of next year

Predictable but boring and underwhelming everything considered

When's the last time there was a legit battle (I mean not an unrealistic one milked by Sky Sports) for P1?

I'm glad Red Bull didn't try some longshot strategy at the end by pitting Max and having him slow everyone down and hope Lando could get passed by multiple drivers. I guarantee Max wouldn't want to win that way, not after already having 4 championships.

McLaren did just enough to not piss away what should have been down to just a 2 way McLaren driver battle, with Max eliminated several races ago. Max didn't lose anything this year. He had more wins than any other driver this year, vastly outperforming what the car had in it.

I'm sure some things would have changed but it's funny to think that Max's temper, running into Russel in Spain dropping him from 5th to 10th cost him the championship.

GG, fun season. Hope cars are better for racing next year.

I'm sure some things would have changed but it's funny to think that Max's temper, running into Russel in Spain dropping him from 5th to 10th cost him the championship.

It could also be argued that that potential low point of the season was part of the fuel and motivation for his domination in the second half of the season.

You can't simply work backwards and find lost points and point the blame there and say this is what cost Max the championship. All strategy after that changes based on the points standings.

If Lando had to finish 2nd yesterday to win the championship, Oscar would have given up 2nd to give Lando the championship. That's why it makes no difference what happened with Kimi the week before. If Lando had to win the race to beat Max, then in Q3 Oscar's job would have been to give Lando a slipstream to get Lando on the pole. All strategies and actions would have been different by both teams.

^^

You cannot change something in the past and expect that everything after that remains the same.

In other news: Helmuth Marko is leaving Red Bull

Thumbs up for this news. This was long overdue.

Part of me wonders what Red Bull 2026 looks like. Horner, Marko, Max, and Yuki could all be gone.

Last man standing, best man standing.

My comments on the year 2025.

The races were generally not very good. Not enough bangers, not enough overtaking. Too many races decided after lap 1.

Lando the WDC. Absolutely deserved and congratulations to him. He was in the best car, by a significant margin and he outperformed Oscar. Only because of his DNF and DSQ is that Max and Oscar had hopes in the last race, otherwise it would have been game over before Abu Dhabi.

The season highlight, without a shadow of a doubt was HΓΌlkenberg's podium. I was in such a good mood that day. Doing it in the 9th best car was the cherry on top.

The season's lowlight I cannot choose between two: 1) Papaya rules and especially Oscar giving the place back to Lando because of the slow pitstop. ****ing AIDS. 2) Max ramming into George. That was so uncool and insufficiently punished imo.

High performers of the season: Max and George. There were others that drove well this year, but these two stand out.

Disappointing drivers of the year: Yuki, Lewis and Lance. Stroll gonna Stroll, he is ****ing terrible. Yuki has been worse than Checo, has been causing way too many accidents, almost yeeted Lando off the championship, that would have been a very large controversy indeed and generally bad at everything. Lewis deserves to cone of shame for his atrocious performance this year and Ferrari will scratch their head about the decision to let Carlos go in favor of past glory.

Rookie of the year: Isak Hadjar. I think he was pretty consistently doing well while Antonelli was way too inconsistent, from great races to just straight up bad races. Bearman has been pretty good as well , beating Ocon (which I did not expect). These three rookies are a fine addition to the grid. Colapinto has been meh and I expect next year to be his last and Bortoleto has been OK, but nothing too exciting though.

2025 Crash damage classification in €

3.4M Bortoleto
3.0M Yuki
2.5M Lando
2.3M Stroll
1.9M Charles
1.9M Oscar
1.8M Doohan
1.7M Hadjar
1.6M Colapinto
1.5M Lawson
..
800k Alonso
800k Antonelli
600k Ocon
400k George
400k Max

Newspaper didn't say top 11-16

I had a comment to make while finally watching the race last night (but having known Lando won) why the **** did they pit Oscar so late and made worse is that they pitted Lando again before Oscar - Oscar couldn't have done anymore but if they are going to keep hampering him from the pit wall next season will be his last with McLaren.

Also I see on a side note that Zac Brown's United Auto Sports has pulled out of a 3 way owned supercars team here with Walkinshaw and Andretti Auto Sports (now TWG) - wonder if that has anything to do with the negative press McLaren are getting here in Australia as the supercars team itself just won the championship and is about to join forces with Toyota so exciting times ahead and really no performance reasons to be dropping out

Tomorrow, I'm going to listen to The F1 Show podcasts, Barcelona Shakedown Day 1-5 Review.

Someone needs to start an F1 thread for 2026 on the old forums - I ain't logging in to the new forums for the 2026 thread.
