2025 Formula 1 Season
2025 Formula 1 discussion thread...
Perez/Bottas at Cadillac next year should be interesting. What does Lewis do? He's obviously underperforming in the Ferrari. Does the money fill the "no podiums yet" hole?
Cadillac went the safe choice rather than going with Alex Palou who I thought deserves a go. Probably does not help his chances that he drives a Honda in Indycar.
McLaren putting Oscar in an awkward team order's position today. Oscar obv the better teammate than Lando. Last time when the roles were switched, Lando pouted for like 10+ laps before finally giving the place up. Oscar says his piece and gives it up immediately.
Colton Herta leaving IndyCar to race full time in F2 next year will make me want to follow F2 closer. I'm not going to be rooting against him - but I just don't get it. Obviously he's doing it to try to get a 2027 Cadillac seat, which he currently lacks enough superlicense points for. But I don't see him ever being more than the second best driver on a backmarker team. Is that better than podiums and occasional Indycar wins?
the first 6 laps were really great fun, then it became a procession. very good performance from Max and the McLarens couldn't make up any ground on him
The Lando-Oscar swap was utterly ridiculous.
Oscar should not have done the swap. If he now loses the WDC by less than 6 points, he will kick himself forever.
Imagine this going on in the last race for the WDC ....
"Max, give the position back to Lando, please"
"You guys are sure about this?"
"Eh, yes"
And Max gave the position back.
Usually you get a tantrum or at least some protesting or complaining from him or practically any other driver. Our boy is maturing.
McLaren is ruining this season with team orders. They need to stop doing that. Lando needs to man the **** up. He got a freeroll. Safety car, he wins. No safety car, he doesn't lose. That's not how top sports should work. You take risks, you accept the consequences.
Do you mean Oscar?
I can understand the decision that it wasn't Lando's fault and there is a bigger game at play in terms of their driving futures together but if this was 20 years ago that swap would never have happened no matter the teammates except in a Schumi contract situation
Feel asleep during qualifying but how did Norris not capitalise on Oscar's misfortunes?
That was chaos
So many bad drivers making Q1 impossible.
More destruction in Q2. Still a lot of rookie drivers left to crash about.
It's like it's an adult track and they don't have enough adults driving.
Bernie Collins isn't on a team anymore. No reason to put her on a "team communication" style headset so that her audio sounds effed up. Plus, she's been eating the mic all weekend. Totally tilting.
Amateur weekend from Piastri, unforgivable to make three errors. But is Norris good enough to maximise the opportunity?
Max 8 laps away from his 6th grand slam, level wih Lewis in 2nd place. Jim Clark has 8.
For any track where Oscar was to have a crash I'm glad it was done at Baku as it was overall a weak McLaren track and a track that Lando was never going to score big points at - but very strange mistake to make and the jump start too

Yeah I'm sick of her and Chandhok. Get him off the actual race commentary - go back to doing post-race, post-qualifying and post-practice analysis only
The last two races Max EV to win the WDC has gone up from 0% to approx 1%
I expect that even McLaren isn't bad enough to bottle this WDC. But they tried hard this weekend.
Norris not getting past anyone in the race whatsoever must be worrying for himself and his fans
Reasonable pay off. Sadly he's going to have to kick around the house with his insane missus now.

Norris was asked after qualifying if he missed an opportunity. He was also asked after the race. Both times he said it wasn’t. I think a winner would be honest and express their disappointment, but Lando gonna Lando.
So Leclerc slams into Norris in the pit lane, destroys a $150k McLaren nose, and Ferrari get fined $10k. Seems legit.
