2025 MLB Season Thread
The Tokyo series is March 18-19th, will air on FOX, and is between The Cubs and The Dodgers.
The Regular Season starts Ma
Bunting after Vlad hit the double was the worst. just a terrible decision.
There's replays showing that he basically had no leadoff. It was so bad. Wtf are the blue Jays base coaches even doing?
IKF said they were told not get too far off the base for fear of not getting back in time if there was a line drive. The Barger play in game 6 probably in their head. I did not see how much of a lead he had and really don't want to go back and look.
Anyway, the Blue jays had an awesome season and 20+ of the 26 guys played above expectations (or regular season performance).
Vladdy, Clements, Barger all above expectations. Vladdy and Clements had insane post seasons.
Lukes gave us what he had given us during the year. Varsho tailed off at the end but with his offence and defense combined was very good. Kirk was Kirk. Springer performed well and had key hits and was hurt. Bo did great for being hurt.
Yesavage, Gausman, Scherzer (thought he'd be a disaster), Hoffman (overall was good) , Varland ( a beast), Fluharty, Bassitt (well done!) and Lauer all pitched better (on ave) than they did in the season. Bieber was ok.
It sucks, but I have no interest in trying to find a person or play or decision or pitch to blame.
Final stats sorted by hits.

Only thing missing was a walk off in game 7. Best one since Chicago Cleveland probably, but that also is because Game 7 was epic for that one.
This might even be better than that game 7. Not only did a guy who can't hit homer in the 7th to tie it but you get 2 defensive plays stop the jays from scoring in the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded and Yamamoto doing more magic in the 11th to get out of 1st and 3rd one out on 0 days rest.
I can't even imagine how much this hurts for Jays fans. I'm a Yankees fan but it was hard for 2001 to hurt that much when they had just won 3 in a row and the Yankees stole 2 games that series with 2 outs in the 9th. This was brutal.
Level I: That Game
Definition: Game 6 of the 1986 World Series. ... One of a kind. ... Given the circumstances and the history involved here, maybe the most catastrophic sports loss of our lifetime.
Personal Memory: The only game that actually combined The Guillotine and The Stomach Punch. No small feat. Let's just hope we never travel down that road again.
Feels about right for last night.

For me it hurts, but hurts a bit less knowing
(1) We were in last place in the AL East last year. When the post-season started it was like 'can we just beat those damn Yankees.."and then see what happens"
(2) We are not being gutted by free agency. Sure, we are losing some guys, but the rotation starts with Yesavage, Gausman, Berrios, Lauer.
OF Varsho/Santander (dh?)/Lukes/Loperfido/Springer (dh?)
If no Bo, it could be Barger, Gimenez, Clements, Vladdy on the IF
Jays should try and resign Bo if he will play 2nd and be affordable. But I am not sure how long Bo and his agent want to take for rehab so that he can demonstrate to any team (and their doctors) that he is fully healthy. Can't see him signing with anyone in the next month or two. If they want a top dollar long term contract he needs to show he is 100%.
Bo could land a 20-22M per year 5 or 6 year contract somewhere
If 5 years the Jays will have to suffer through a Netflix special on this WS...
I didn't watch any baseball this year and just happened to turn it on in the 9th. I'm glad to see a US team take it down.

Should have scored so easily. Carlos Febles lost this series for the Jays.
Each of you who cheered for the jays can have 1 case of champagne that they had ready for a world series win.:p
was watching at a party so game muted
saw the play but missed the non lead
this is going to be running through a lot of peoples heads for ages
It will be known as the World Series of missed opportunities as well as great defensive plays.
base running blunder to the extreme

Or just a great series.
And we don't get this great 7 game series as fans, if it's not one team playing way above the back of their baseball cards, vs one playing way below. All baseball fans were fortunate.
it was a treat for sure, perhaps the greatest world series of all time, or at least of the last 50 years. with a bittersweet finish for the underdog.
was definitely the best world series i ever watched, brought my brother and i back to baseball - amazing al championship as well
