Again, I think you're missing the psychology. Players having come close so many times now may feel they need to move on, so this may not be a bad thing.
That isn't a good way of thinking about it. Elite level sport is all about getting over the line. It feels like every other year Man City hit their straps on the run in. Conversely, when was the last time they coughed up a lead?

I probably agree. He's turning into the modern day Wenger. As good a coach as Unai Emery has proven to be, for whatever reason Arsenal went backwards under him.
it seems far easier to screw up managerial appointments than succeed with them. For that reason, they should probably stick.

Have a sneaking suspicion that Berta has his own man in mind and he did purchase this season in a way for all excuses to be tame at the end if there is no silverware.
Chopping and changing managers rarely works, at least not straight away and Arsenal have a "win now" team. I would be massively in favour of Arsenal firing Arteta.
Because you hate to see Arsenal in the top four every season and challenging for trophies (even if unsuccessfully), but for most Arsenal fans it’s not enough given the pedigree of the club and some aspects of Artetas management leave much to be desired and he doesn’t seem to be learning.
I don’t know how I can possibly do this again next season.

Yes. The reason why fans of other clubs will LOL if they sack Arteta is because they think Arsenal are *more likely* to win in the short term with him than if they get someone new in.
Gotta say opposing fans hide that sentiment exquisitely well
I have not heard a loud Proteta statement in ages apart from this thread.
Also this is why you dont just say meh for the smaller trophies. The sentiment would be way different with a few smaller trophies here and there, removes this sort of mounting pressure.
The owners probably love Arteta. Champions League money every season without ever having to pay out winner bonuses. Daniel Levy wet dream. Fury from the fans might force it though, it's not over yet still a lot to play for.

You replaced Wenger and it took like 5 years to show notable improvement, which you did and obvs his last 2 years werent stellar, but no reason to think it wouldn't be similar again.
I'm just not sure many would lol @ us for firing Lego Pep. I think lols would be more plentiful if he stays and does not win anything again is all.
Also the Wenger ending era is specifically why this 4x2nd feels same than getting top4 and not winning anything although in reality this is way better result.
We have played a final, playing a semi-final where against Atleti there is more than a realistic chance of getting to a UCL final. League is not out of sight.
The problem is that this happens for the 3rd season in a row and 2 where we "bottled" it. This season it is true though as we have ourselves to blame for that no-point game against Bmouth. Half the effort that was on display yesterday and we would have won that game comfortably.
So its more like the feeling of never being able to cross the finish line rather than the reality of the situation is what will likely skew these reactions and decisions

This is ahistorical.
If you remember (you probably don't) the club had become highly dysfunctional, with characters like Mislintat and Sanllehi milking the club in the naive vacuum left after Wenger's departure, epitomised by the signing of Pepe, a £70M RW probably worth half that, when a LW was needed.
By the time of Arteta's appointment at the end of 2019 they had been identified for what they were and were being removed after lengthy investigations. The club finished eighth but won the FA Cup, and finished eighth again the following season, fifth in 2022 before rising to the string of second places.
So it's not really a valid comparison because the dysfunctionality that caused much of the five year plateau is no longer there.

I think a lot of fans would like him but part of the problem is that the same drawback with Arteta, a lack of big trophy wins when he arrived, also applies to Iraiola.

We had 20 points at the end of October. That is absolutely mental.
We have been awful and yet when we aren't every 50/50 has gone against us too.
Not sure what price we are to go down but I just cannot see a path, even if we win 3 of our last 5 we can easily still go down.
OPTA has us at 71.72% to win the EPL. That seems generous to say the least

We also have UCL games left, while City plays the FA Cup, which causes fixture congestion. Is that the reason why this % is so high?

I still cant wrap my head around this. Sure, Spurs suck, but I did not think the Maddison and Kulu injuries would completely cripple them to this extent.
Firing 3 managers quite quickly also did not reach the desired effect.
Yeah it's complete bollocks. There's no set of inputs or honest "computer model" that makes Arsenal favourites now. It's just designed to get engagement on social media/clicks to rags wanting you to accept cookies. They should have started the post "Unpopular opinion" or "No Arsenal fan can scroll past without liking this". Everyone that will actually take money on it has the odds around 57% City 43% Arse.
Of course its a pretty fair fight with those odds and it will be no surprise if Arse win, but its not over 70% to them.
