There's very little qualitative difference this season between fifth and fourteenth (four points only after 20 games). That may widen proportionately as the season wears on, with deeper squads better able to weather injuries/suspensions, but there are big chances this season for smaller clubs and peril for bigger clubs.

i guess i'm dum but whats the coach/manager distinction he's making here?

He wants players to fit the system he was brought here to implement and Wilcox basically told him to get stuffed in January. I mean, someone like Gallagher theoretically should be available with a loan to buy and Wilcox was like: it’s Semenyo or nobody.

They clearly have money to use (they were prepared to drop £££ on Baleba in August and made a move for Semenyo that got rejected) and it’s irresponsible to not at least bring in someone like Gallagher or João Gomes to bring a steady hand to the MF and to do everything to make sure that a top-6 finish happens.

Effectively, what was the point in bringing him in last year during the season, he plays a vastly different style than United have ever done, and then kneecapping him?

Personally, I wish they had kept him until the summer and would’ve done at least something in January even if it’s guys for support. It can’t be: Anderson/Wharton or bust.

Don’t get me wrong, they went out and completely overhauled the front 3 this past summer and to be fair, those guys have delivered on the whole. But, the MF has been a sieve while Mainoo and Ugarte haven’t really been up to the job. The defense has been absolute **** without de Ligt and Maguire there, but those guys should be coming back from injury soon……..I hope:p

They're better than what they had I agree but I wondered at the start of the season why United would go for those 3 and not address the more obvious problematic positions like their entire defense and midfield(minus Bruno).

Gotta suck being a coach and getting players you don't want.

watched some extracts from that post-game conference and it was just bizarre.

wp if it's pre-meditated though because that's a hell of a payoff to not have to deal with misery

Lester with one shot on target here gjge

And there is a second lol

Which has basically been a recurring theme for many, MANY years now.

The defense I was less worried about than the MF this summer. I’m still less worried about it than the MF as long as De Ligt is healthy. But now, I don’t see anything being done in January and can more easily see 12th place happen than 6th.

Amorin presser was absolutely wild. Nothing they could do and seeeeee ya

This looks like a man who’s going to be sitting on a beach in sunny Portugal drinking beers paid for by INEOS instead of having to answer any more questions about “Kobbie.”

TheAthletic used the phrase 'the club's ownership reluctantly made the decision to part ways'.

I fully believe that. They would have let him be no doubt - results were bad thus far as well and there was no sign of improvement.

Lunch ladies must have sleepless nights as you know Sir Rat just scoured the premises that day to see where he can save a couple of pounds.

If they bring back Ole as a caretaker just disband the club.

Man Utd has been in steep decline, since they let go of Wout Weghorst

I think the declines started when they decided to get him in the first place
Although 0 goals in 17 PL matches is quite impressive for a striker

Rosenior with a very reasonable six year contract LOL

Spurs legend Ryan Mason sacked by West Brom

He has 2 PL goals, I'll have you know.

When his dad played for us I once saw him described in a fanzine as "reputedly well-hung striker, sadly with very bad knee problems".

Given the weather and how abysmal we are at football there are going to be so many areas of white empty seats that I'm expecting Trump to mistake it for Greenland and have the army land there during the game.

Might be great news to West Ham's democracy!

I thought you were being funny only to discover this might actually be a thing? What the good ****.

He has 0 PL goals actually, I'll have you know

He has two goals in a total of 31 matches for ManU but none of them were in the PL

"the 30-year-old scored once in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Nottingham Forest and then in the 4-1 win against Real Betis in the Europa League in March. However, the Netherlands international failed to net in any of his 17 Premier League appearances"

Sorry had to fix the quote. Was it not for Van dijk and Berghuis we would've gone to the WC final and his status would've been etched in history as the Dutch goat for that unreal 90+11 minute goal.

I’m going to need my claret and blue foam pointy finger, aren’t I?

well you should email goal.com to fix that quote :p

I am Dutch so I know his heroics against Argentina all too well

But he is nowhere near ManU material and if Ten Hag wasnt the coach he would have never made it there in the first place

The Nuno Espirito Santi derby. An absolute shitshow.

Ik ook(kinda). I agree ofc with Weghorst not being Man U material.

Oh dear, Man Utd wasn't the only PL club he played for.
