2026 Formula 1 - I Love A Parade! #TheRealRacesAreNowOnSaturdays
Low expectations.
Race was pretty good and seems like we might have a tight 2-team race (although I believe Merc get upgrades this week), but I think my excitement level for the season has taken a massive hit. I just can't get into this battery management style of racing.

Recipe for good racing: Accelerate, shift, lift, steer, brake.
Recipe for bad racing: "Mother Henning" precious electrons.

What are your thoughts on Checo wasting his time with Cadillac - clearly he is just being used as a guinea pig for Herta to take his seat once they are up to speed and he is up to speed with world single seater racing?

What other seat did Perez have the opportunity to be in for this season? I think both Bottas and Perez are happy to be driving at all on Sundays.
Regarding Herta, I believe he needs only 1 Superlicense point from F2 to automatically qualify for F1 next year. To do that, he needs to finish in the top 10 of F2 drivers this year. Right now he is below that line, but the season is still very early. Presumably he will improve as he gets used to the car, but it isn't a done deal that Herta is in a Cadillac next year. If he fails to earn another superlicense point, I believe F1 can still give him a waiver if they feel he is experienced enough to drive the car.

As JAS said, it's whatever. Prob wasn't gonna get a seat anywhere else so it's cool to see him out there. Although I quickly forget he's even in the race at all.
holy **** the TV production sucks balls
Had the same thoughts about this for a long time. Just seems like they have a lot to learn compared to likeβ¦.. an NFL production.
When it comes to pregame shows, in game production it just seems Americans do a way better job compared to Sky Sports.
it's gonna be interesting to see what develops between the two Merc drivers over the season. I was super impressed how the McLaren guys held it together for the most part last year - I'm not so certain Kimi & George will manage that this year
I don't think Kimi will rattle like Oscar did last year. George is already driving desperate. Lots of racing yet to come. It will be interesting, that's for sure.
I guess that's one way for a Monaco race to be interesting.
George's season is unraveling quickly. Kimi showing no signs of cracking under the pressure.
Antonelli put on a clinic. Very impressive for someone so young
as an aside that may be interesting only to me, my partner's daughter is working on a super yacht hosting the McClaren drivers & team for the past week. haven't heard many reports yet of what the drivers were like but the detail of what got helicoptered onboard the yacht is cray cray
Man - I just decided to watch the first 5 laps and then fall asleep on the couch not thinking much would change in that race but apparently each time I woke up (between the red flag and restart) it was one of the best races in awhile.
very interesting betting market for the weekend's race which shows what the market thinks of the different drivers, the different teams and how they view the gap between the drivers on the same teamGeorge a clear favourite at $2.85 (his teammate Kimi at $9 is a huge gap for an established teammate)Max second favourite at $4.40 with his teammate Hadjar at $101!!!!Charles $5.70,
Kimi should be the most favorite.
Ferrari out-stratted Mercedes today. Hamilton was poised to win with the 3 stop even without the VSC.
I was expecting an increase in DNF's this year due to the drastically different racing package this year, but there have been even more reliability problems than I would have predicted. Maybe Cadillac can steal a point yet some time this year just because of attrition.
Part of me thinks that Toto doom-switched Kimi from his pocket remote the moment Kimi passed George. That DNF came out of nowhere. I'm sure the long-term Mercedes staff would rather see George win the title rather than Kimi, since George has "earned it" more than Kimi has. I think I said pretty much the same thing last year regarding McLaren when Oscar was ahead of Lando in the points.
