the game is set up very nicely. also a great example of how/why positive, aggressive cricket is good for the game. Very rare, over the history of test cricket that two 1st innings scores of 450+ would allow for a likely result in a test match without a collapse. We still might get a draw here if the pitch flattens out more but the draw is currently paying $5.
India slight favourites and deservedly so, with the runs on the board and Bumrah.
Bumrah bowling at goat levels.
he's bowling at an incredibly high level. clearly the goat Indian bowler I'd imagine?
I had an interesting conversation with a few mates the other day. There's a very strong argument that Pat Cummins would make an all time Australian test XI but yet he's a level below two other bowlers in world cricket right now
McGrath, Warne, Lillee. So maybe 4th there.
But Bumrah is on another level. Only peak Marshall and Hadlee have this kind of record overseas. Going by peaks you could argue he's already goat.
Of Indian pace bowlers to have taken just 50 Test wickets, Bumrah has the best average, economy and strike rate.
Of all pace bowlers to have taken 100 overseas wickets, he has the best strike rate and is one of just three with an average below 20.
He is however one of just 18 bowlers with 200 Test wickets that has not taken 10 wickets in a match. That group includes Bob Willis, Brett Lee, Josh Hazlewood, Joel Garner, Jason Gillespie and Jeff Thomson.

Yes. 8. Warne, 9 Cummins 10 Lillee 11 McGrath
Letβs calm down a little on Bumrah. Both his Strike rate and Average are truly excellent and stand up there with anyone.
But heβs played 45 tests. Have a look at Waqar Younisβ first 50 tests. Or Rabada or Steyn.
βGoing by peaksβ is just a way to cherry pick stats and Iβd bet I could find players with better peaks.
This is going to be a nail biter.
When will the collapse happen?
Test cricket. The best cricket.
ENG 0/181 before the rain
4TH INNINGS OPENING PARTNERSHIP
6th best ever
3rd best by England
2nd best in England
Best against India
Best this century
7 centuries already this test match
would have been 8 if Brook scored 1 more run.
All time record is 8 which could be equalled, and maybe could have been broken.
as i say that crawley falls
Proper test match, that.
great result for England and a very good run chase.
OMG India are bad at fielding. catches, misfields, lack of fitness. It's really inexcusable. England caught badly too but you could argue that India lost this game in the field.
Crawley actually batted responsibly yesterday, albeit he tried to give his wicket away in the 40s. I am torn between wanting an England series win but wanting Crawley to get dropped to ensure he's not on the Ashes tour. His knock yesterday was good enough to set England up without being enough to secure his place for the long term, so I live in hope
Crawley is gonna end up with 100 tests and a <30 average.
Must be something wrong with me. I’m happy for an Australian Test loss and an English Test win!
Great match all round. England should be favourites for the Ashes.
Shamar Joseph is tearing Australia apart again
should have had 5
Wiaan Mulder with a decent knock of 367*. He declared when he had a great chance to beat Lara's record.
Thank goodness he declared it took a whole 43 overs on day 2 to bowl zimbabwe out, how would SA have time to get 20 wickets?!?!?!
What the hell India scored the exact same score as England and this series was already tied
The TV stats machine makes ENG favourites over India, then the draw, but the markets have IND as faves. Weird.
I can’t remember the last time both sides posted the exact same first-innings total in a Test. It must be rare!
2015 was the last time apparently
So does Archer just rise every 6 years for a Lord's test match?
