Joe Dumars is probably my favorite. A guy that has never finished higher than 10th in the MVP, vs a guy that won 6 of them.
Joe Dumars was an incrdible player. The most underrated player in nba history probably. He was a million times better tha Isiah Thomas. Joe duuuuuummmmmmaaaaararrrrsssss! As they announcer spoke as he hit another shot carrying the bad boy Pistons. Dude was a scoring machine. He was the meat and potatoes of the Bad Boy Pistons.
I actually agree with you that he was underrated. IT got all the credit, but Dumars was just as good as him in those two years.
He's also, maybe, the 100th best player of all time.

Lol, c'mon let me give Dumars some props. Barkley prolly better. But i stand by Dumars was better offensively. Barkley stronger, and much better rebounder and stuff. But if i need a bucket i'm going to Dumars over Barkley every day of the week, and twice on sunday! I'm a Barkley fan too btw.

I actually forgot Dumars was really good at defense. I just remember him being an automatic bucket. So i just assumed Barkley woulda been considered better on defense due to being bigger and stronger than Dumars. I figured that was the reason you thought Barkley better. Barkley was better than Dumars at offense? Dumars was a scoring machine. Barkley would post up controlling his offense like a general. But surprising he would be considered better than Dumars at offense. Like i don't think of Barkley as a great offensive player even though maybe he was. Barkley made the dream team for some reason. Chris Mullin another under-remembered player. who also made the Dream Team. Was a somewhat small dude in college, at least he looked small as he was always battling Ewing. But then i think he hit the gym when he got to the nba. What a great shooter.

In 2025, SGA averaged 33 ppg to 21 for Jalen Williams - now imagine if Jalen was 5th in MVP... This would obviously be absurd, yet that's the treatment Pippen got.
Even though Williams was All-defense, he's clearly carried by SGA and therefore doesn't sniff MVP votes in seasons that SGA plays...
This is how it should have been for Pippen - there's never been a bigger statistical gap between 1st and 2nd option than MJ/Pippen, so Pippen should never sniff MVP votes in seasons that MJ played, similar to the dynamic between SGA/Williams..
Case closed - it's irrefutable... Unfortunately, the media is influenced by the winning spotlight, so many carried sidekicks get MVP votes like Klay or Pippen.. If the Thunder win again this year, Williams will probably be similar to Klay/Pippen and start getting MVP votes due to winning spotlight inflation.

3 of those championships were in years 16, 18 and 19 ffs.
He wasn't dominant MVP Kareem those years(especially the last 2 rings) but still a huge piece of the puzzle on championship roster.

Like when i listed a bunch of guys that i thought were better than Kareem becasue in the spur of the moment i was analyzing Kareem's game when he was old and not examing his entire body or work. When i saw Fallguy agreed he was third i was like oh maybe i got over my skies a bit on that one, then remembered that man was a 6 time mvp and 6 time champion. I don't know if kareem is 3rd but he deserves more respect than i was giving him in my flippant post.
