speech and platform actually worse than i expected, idk why i got my hopes up even a little. kinda saw it coming though based on how they actively ignored the genocide all week. i was gonna echo the line about it being a hard pivot back to the center, but tbh the idea that they moved left at all was mostly wishcasting copium type stuff from various people.
didn't see the whole speech, but the only concrete policy i caught was her promising to pass this republican border bill (lol), and the foreign stuff in their platform is atrocious, looks written by neocons+israel. the rhetoric might be improved, but words are wind, and they probably won't win overwhelming majorities, so it'll be the same business as usual bipartisan ~nothing, at best. might as well be brandon or hillary or anyone else really, it doesn't matter.
nothing will change, the beatings will continue until morale improves, enjoy arbys, etc

If she had any courage at all she'd have read as much of Das Kapital as she could've in those 45 minutes and then sang the Palestinian national anthem to close. A gross misuse of time by her to give that speech.

idk what you're specifically referencing
but for unclear and archaic reasons when you vote for someone, you're not voting for that person directly, you're voting for a delegate who has pledged their vote for that specific candidate
they could, in theory, show up and say "nah i'm going with this other guy instead"
it's never happened before, but it's not an impossibility
this was what the entire jan 6th thing was all about, they were urging them to just say "nah we're going this way" instead of certifying biden as winner which some legal scholars think was a something which could technically be done
not going to research the how or why now but i believe the founding fathers put that in as a failsafe to allow the common sense and decency of the elites in government to overturn election results as they were deeply in fear of the tyranny of the majority (ie the people voting for a "no taxes party") etc
this is also why originally, only land owning white men could vote because they were deeply worried about what the rabble would elect if given the opportunity so pretty sure those things were put in place as a failsafe against madness
