2024 NFL Game Thread – Super Bowl LIX

Kansas City Chiefs (-1.5) @ Philadelphia Eagles

--------------------------
Kansas City Chiefs

We've all heard the talk about how the Chiefs are pre-ordained to win the Super Bowl this year. And that the NFL rigs the games to make sure the Chiefs win.

Well, I'm here to tell you that is all complete hogwash!!!

The Kansas City Chiefs are just that good and have never needed any special favors from the Refs or Rog.

Let's examine the record:

The Chiefs have played in 11 playoff games since 2021. Guess how many times the Chiefs have had more penalties called against them then their opponents?? Only once out of 11 games.

Ok that's probably not the best stat to prove there is no truth to the rumours that the NFL wants the Chiefs to win. Let's dive deeper.

How did the Chiefs do in the regular season??

Out of 68 regular season games since 2021:

27 games the Chiefs had less penalty yardage (39.7%)
38 games the Chiefs had more penalty yardage (55.9%)

Well, that should prove it right there according to Chief fans!!!!

Let's look at the playoffs!!!!

10 games the Chiefs had less penalty yardage (90.9%)
1 game the Chiefs had more penalty yardage (9.1%)

The Chiefs have gone 10-1 in those 11 playoff games with two Super Bowl wins and potentially a third on the way.

In total, the Chiefs have 36 penalties in those 11 games...their opponents have 66.

If you don't believe me here's ESPN:

But, maybe they were just meaningless “penalties” by the opposing team. Let's take a closer look:

3 total Defensive Pass Interference or Defensive Holding called on the Chiefs.
11 total Defensive Pass Interference or Defensive Holding called on their opponents.

1 total Roughing the Passer (15 yards) called on the Chiefs.
7 total Roughing the Passer (15 yards) called on their opponents.

1 total Unnecessary Roughness (15 yards) called on the Chiefs.
4 total Unnecessary Roughness (15 yards) called on their opponents.

0 total Unsportsmanlike (15 yards) called on the Chiefs.
1 total Unsportsmanlike (15 yards) called on their opponents.

The Chiefs have 18.84 Expected Points Added as a result of penalties in those 11 games and 8 of those 11 games were decided by 1 score or less.

Ok sure, that looks even worse, but look at how other teams fared in this time period!

Teams with at least 5 playoff games during this span and the net games where penalty yardage was in their favor:

Chiefs: 10-1 in their favor, net +9
Ravens: 3-2 in their favor, net +1
Rams: 4-3 in their favor, net +1
Eagles: 3-4 against them, net -1
49ers: 4-5 against them, net -1
Bills: 3-5 against them, net -2
Bucs: 2-4 against them, net -2
Bengals: 1-6 against them, net -5

The only real conclusion you can make from this is that the Chiefs are the most well-coached team that has ever played in the NFL.

Nothing to see here as usual.

Philadephia Eagles

The Iggles have the best running back in the league!

A QB that has probably been concussed about 5 times despite what the official narrative is.

THE TUSH PUSH!!!

Unfortunately for the Iggles though, nobody likes them..

But will that affect the outcome of the game???? No Way!!! Rog has your back Iggles fans!!

Best of luck Iggles fans. We all know you are going to win!!!

I got farmrich mozz sticks ($3 off) to air fry for the Super Bowl.

What should I order (delivery) to go with it?

A cheesesteak and an order of frog legs.

Are we there yet?

Dense fog over Lake Pontchartrain has been wreaking havoc on I-10 the past couple of mornings. I hope they can keep it out of the 'Dome.

Has anyone ever had their TV die a day or two before the Super Bowl? My best, and primary, TV has been glitching all evening. It started not long after one of my dogs tried to attack a dog on the screen and collided with the AVR and/or cable box. (It isn't a contact sport; it's a collision sport!) I've rebooted them, but it has happened a couple of very brief times since then. I may reboot the dog if I miss any part of the SB.

It's not like I don't have three other TVs in the house, but this is obviously my first choice. I guess we'll see how it goes. As long it isn't the cable for the entire house, I'll be able to squeak by (like Ma Home in a one score game).

What I wouldn't give to grab a sixer and pre-game at Tom's house watching the puppy bowl. This year's matchup features Ruff vs Fluff.

I've got a good chunk of my bankroll on Ruff. They have the better O-line and the best RB in the league. Plus they're the dog at +1.5. But, Fluff has the best QB and is trying for the Threepeat. Should be a great game no matter the outcome.

Obviously the real entertainment will be watching two schnauzers destroy Tom's living room. 😆

I’m probably ordering delectable chicken wings and calamari from this great spot near me.

Taking wife to Disneyland tomorrow. People insisted there was no way I was serious about watching the Super Bowl, ha to them I say

To both teams all I have to say is: **** you. I hope the cost of this game is great to you both

Sounds like it could be a cable connection. Have you checked all the wiring connections?

Thanks for the reminder!

I had checked all the connections last night except for the HDMI connections which I didn't want to fool with while everything was on. I re-seated those just now. Everything seems to be working atm, but I generally don't even turn the TV on until early evening. I'll get a good idea this evening if I'll need to do more trouble-shooting or just move to Plan B for tomorrow.

LOL

No Puppy Bowl viewing at my house due to a high deductible homeowner's policy.

Pretty sure I called that the only way you weren't watching was if your wife had plans for you.

SRM scoring points for years by “choosing” Disneyland with the wife over the biggest game of the year.

**** the chefs and **** the eagles. I regret nothing

It will all come crashing down if the Niners luckbox their way into one.

I mean, nobody actually believes he won't have his face buried in his phone for most of the game, right?

a livestream of sad disneyland faces during the sb would be amazingly topical content

Teacups ride it up!

no opinion, never saw the wedding photos

it sure is a narrative ROG tried his darnedest to fight back against during his State of the League presser on Monday

a lot of pressure on these refs not to treat Mahomie w kid gloves this game

He definitely won’t want to watch that one.

So the Iggles should light him up early to see where the line is?

light up the opposing QB every chance you get

your WP goes up like a rocket when the starting QB heads to the locker room after visiting the blue tent

RIGGED!
