We are all... forever changed by his presence

Criterion has already begun streaming most of Lynch's films, including Inland Empire, Lost Highway, along with Eraserhead, Twin Peaks, and Mulholland Drive. Also included are a few short films.

1986, so I must have been 16, my parents decided the family would go see a movie. I remember a few things (Pabst Blue Ribbon!!!), but the movie went completely over my head. And that's about as close as I ever got to understanding Davie Lynch.

Take a look at Elephant Man... it's more accessible.

This reminded me of my first rated R movie for some reason, but I do remember it. I was too young, so not sure why my parents took us. I might have been 12 (brother thee years older, sister two years younger -- can't remember if she was there), and they took us to see The Jerk!

I remember thinking it was funny and not getting some (a lot, I'm sure) of it. When I saw it as an adult I was shocked. Holy Cow! What were my parents thinking? Still love the movie 😉

The teacher throwing the glowsticks reminded me of this time my friend got searched by the cops after they broke up an underground rave. They found glowsticks in all four of his pockets. By the end of the search, everyone was laughing. Anyway, this trailer was hilarious. Gonna check out more of this guy's videos.

It's the one that says Bad Mother F*cker...

The Fabelmans, Steven Spielberg, 2023

I wanted to watch David Lynch's last film performance, so I watched this. Great, lovely film....semi-autobiographical about Spielberg's life as a child and teenager, his family, and his growing love of cinema.

I loved it. Beautifully shot, wistful, nostalgic, and quite adult at times. Michelle Williams as the Mom gives a tour de force of a performance. She is so great in everything I've ever seen her in. She's like a throwback to the old movie stars of the time this movie takes place in.

Paul Dano as the Dad is also quite good...Seth Rogan as the family friend who is secretly in love with Williams' character also stands out. the young actor who plays "Sam" (really, the young Spielberg) is also quite good, and looks like a dead ringer to Spielberg at the end of the film, when he's finally on a studio backlot. The girls who play Sam's sisters are also quite good - especially the one who plays Reggie - she also played the little girl actress in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. She's wonderful.

David Lynch plays the legendary film director John Ford, and Spielberg gives him the final scene in the movie...and he's perfect and hilarious. Great - and funny - last shot, too. The camera movement is just right. I loved how Spielberg made this a loving take on imperfect people - but since they are family, we love them anyway.

Such a sweet movie.

My favorite part of that movie was at the end when he met John Ford and Ford explained how having the Horizon in the middle made for boring pictures. I have been using that advice in my own extremely amatuer photography.

Lol " it's a thumb."

And of course, it's Really David Lynch. :😃

I have to check it out. I love his stand-up (GOAT), talk show appearances, etc. but never watched his TV shows. A few weeks ago, I came across a mix of Louie clips on YouTube and was instantly sold.
