Collateral literally implies 'inadvertent damage'... unless you're taking out a bank loan.
So your movie is named after an event that actually doesn't take place.
HOWEVER, collateral can mean 'in parallel'... like two lives running congruent to each other, intertwined.

Final Destination 5: Bloodlines
Great movie to get some friends together and have a good time. Can't imagine being disappointed by this one, its a very good FD movie, and you should know what to expect going in

he talked about forgetting a film and then when i pointed out i loved one of his submissions but it technically shouldn't count on 2000 and then he updated with a new one where he put the one he forgot and of course removed that year 2000 one 😀
I am with RR on this one... anyone that is self involved enough as to run out and make public the minutia of changing a personal decision in order to conform is really the epitome of a pedant.
I might even go one step further, but since I am not a pedantic person, for the most part.
I will just leave it here for now... but I reserve future rights :p
Nice list! I just rewatched Almost Famous and "Tiny Dancer" is PEAK cinema. Just the perfect needle drop, sing a long and group making up all at the same time. Hoffman is magic in this one and it made me sad that Kate Hudson peaked in her first role.
I've yet to watch Michael Clayton or Margin Call. I need to fix that soon.

rewatching the Social Network for the first time in years, and while it is obviously an excellent movie, the main thing I get from it is that Harvard seems to be a truly horrible place.
this is how it's portrayed in every film - just see how they do it in jerry and marge go large - basically a college for young sociopaths

This was great fun. Thrilling and scary and comedic. This whole series is a guilty pleasure for me. Since I'm a bit scared of heights the first 20 minutes put me on the edge of my seat and I could barely look at the screen. I would never go up in that tower. I guess I've been up in the Seattle and Toronto ones and that is enough. I love the Rube Goldberg sequence of tiny events that cascade into horrid deaths. It's especially funny when the future victims laugh at the curse or don't take it seriously. Since the victims are living on borrowed time, their deaths don't seem so tragic. In FD Bloodlines it all starts with a loose penny that gets out of control horribly. (I agree that the casting wasn't the best here but I could ignore it.) Lets do an FD 6 (or 7 depending on how you count them).
a tidbit:
71-year-old stuntwoman Yvette Ferguson came out of retirement for a fire stunt in the premonition scene, which director Zach Lipovsky believes to be a world record for the oldest person set on fire on camera. Ferguson admitted to enjoy the experience and recounted how the makeup artists would encourage her by turning on the songs like "Burn, Baby, Burn" and "Great Balls of Fire."

Really valuable lesson if you've ever lived on the west side of L.A. Watch out for the professional ladder climbers in the world. Harvard is like the ultimate school for people who care about one person- themselves.
In honor of all the Danny Boyle love, I watched Trance again.
Its been a while, since the theatrical release, and its still great... brutal and unflinching and great storytelling.

This talk of the best films of 21 century reminded me of this I keep forgetting to bring up. Do you guys have scenes in perfectly fine movies that just set you off, and ruin it for you.
i love sci-fi, overwhelming majority of my reading is sci-fi or historical non-fiction (right now reading fall of hyperion) but nearly every attempt at making sci fi films takes liberties and shortcuts in their world building that they inevitably have things that simply do not make any sense whatsoever
so when you show a dystopian world it better make sense - why are motorized vehicles the primary means of transportation in a world where no more gasoline can be refined?
how is it that roads even exist and are used frequently enough to have tons of thread marks on them from prior heavy traffic?
how can they afford such luxury as to dedicate such a finite resource to this?
if water is so scarce that ownership of it grants this man a kingdom, then why is 99% of it wasted?
it's stuff like that totally takes me out of it - but then again, i'm also the guy who watches lord of the rings and say "ackshually the elves weren't in this battle in the books"
but it's otherwise a good question, and yes, there's a lot of films where one scene just really ruins it for me
the ending of fifth element really ruined it for me - just totally different from the rest of the campy fun vibe the rest of the film had
although deeply fictional in nature (he'd been long dating and committed to the woman he married - and let's be real, give "how much better" he could have done, he must honestly love her) this is still about close as perfect as it comes to the ending of a film

You’re a mind reader, I’d been meaning to post about this since discussion of SN reemerged. It’s an incredible ending; I can only think of a handful of concerts where I heard the opening bars of a song and had that strong a YASSS reaction. It’s the LDO song in hindsight but because it’s one of those Beatles songs everyone knows but rarely heard on the radio, nobody (meaning me) was expecting it. Sorkin had to have personally approached Paul & Yoko to get permission to use it, especially the whole thing as the crescendo of the film!
We’ll leave further discussion of great end credits songs (Breakfast Club, Rounders) for another day. All this has convinced me that I need to get SN on my top ten list. Ima see if I can still do it, I’ll keep ya’ll posted how it goes!
