In the spirit of the books and movies threads, here's one to talk about what you're listening to lately and what you hav
One of my best friends listened to Frampton Comes Alive almost every day when he and another friend shared a house in grad school. Eventually, we got so tired of hearing it every day, we smashed that damn album.
My friend Tim died five years ago on my birthday, so I listen to Frampton Comes Alive every year now with new appreciation.
I do like the Big Mountain version.

Lou Harrison's... Homage to Henry Cromwell
beautiful performance... you haven't lived until you have been to a live Lou Harrison Avant-Garde concert.
I saw Boy Genius about 18 months ago with no clue they had a massive lesbian following. I went by myself cuz wife didn't want to go and I had texted her "a lot more women here than men" But I absolute love Phoebe so....
I love this song, though the video could be better (it gets bonus points for the poker/card theme though).
Took a while before I realized it was _the_ Rebecca Black since the song, voice and look is so different. I never understood the hate she got and the haters should feel pretty embarrassed after this song.
Some Slowdive influenced French shoegaze adjacent perfectness...when it kicks in at the 2:00 mark it's just chefs kiss

Sometimes I agree with Pitchfork reviews, sometimes it’s not my bag
But last year Cindy Lee came out with this album that got their highest review in 4 years or so.
Singer is kind of fringe dude, very respected musician, formerly of Women (Canadian psychedelic lo-fi post punk band). He performs for Cindy Lee in drag and sings as a woman
Draws on sounds from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and has an insanely nostalgic sound for those times. 32 songs and clocks in at 2 hours. Not on Spotify so either listen to it here or would be dreamy on vinyl
Took me 2 listens to start to reeeeeeaally get it.

Sadly, I just heard that the great Matthew Sweet had a stroke a few weeks ago while on tour with Hanson. But his rehab is going well, all the best to him. Flat out musical genius btw. His Girlfriend album is as good as albums get.

If you're not going to connect with bands, elp and steely dan are good ones not to connect with. Bruce is OK if I get to listen to Clarence Clemons.
