TV: what have you been watching?
I think The Walking Dead may be the best drama thats currently airing/in production.
There, I said it.
I assumed it was based on her with very little being real
The Dectorists
BBC show about a group of metal "Dectorists" roaming the British landscape looking for gold but mostly finding buttons and pull tabs.
Don't call them metal dectors.
Stars the great Toby Jones.

Latest season of Reacher isn't bad and keeping my attention.
Also recently binge watched Gangs of London, which is utterly ridiculous (serious suspension of disbelief is required here) and rather convoluted, but admittedly entertaining and insanely violent.
Cool didn't realise the new season of Gangs of London had just dropped.
Will have to do some serious recapping as I don't remember a thing (tbf, it's been 2.5yrs)...

It gives a "previously on..." recap from the last season but again new season is still kinda convoluted and even more unrealistic. At this point I'm kinda watching solely for the action sequences and fights tbh.
Reacher is good popcorn....that's about it, tho
The first episode of Adolescence is one of the most riveting hours of television I've ever seen.
Apparently, each of the 4 episodes is all in one shot - no tricks, either, they are all really "one-shot" each. It's like watching a play - you can't take your eyes off it to even check your phone lol. They would rehearse over and over again for weeks before blocking out a week to shoot each episode a few times each.
Stephen Graham stars...long been a favorite of mine. Everyone is top-notch, really. A
Just finished the first episode. Absolutely amazing! Didn't notice it was a lonnnggg shot until a few minutes in and then I was indeed hypnotized/paying more attention to the camera
A Thousand Blows
Just watched the first episode of this, with Adolescence's Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty....about 1880's London boxers and a queen of female thieves looking to score. Two recently arrived Jamaican friends struggle to make it there, as well.
Incredibly entertaining, right from the first scene. Doherty is amazing. I'm gonna be binging this one.
Fun show. Think they've filmed Season 2 already too.
If you're interested at all in the actual history it's based on:

Anyone interested in period pieces in general should check out City of Vice (2008), it's a crime drama set in 18th century London and wasn't bad overall from memory.
Some episodes are available on youtube
I've never watched the movie.
I would say it's a bit dramatic, as in too many characters have too much going on. Former kitchen staff here, so interest beyond normal person. Worth the 6 episode time expense.
Just watched this. I liked it, but the movie is definitely better. I also think you will like it more just based on your criticism. The movie is just 90 minutes inside the restaurant done in one long take, so the personal lives of the characters are mostly kept out of it. It also revolves around Andy, who is more or less sidelined for most of the series.

Just finished this series that's three seasons and each episode is only thirty minutes. It's a sweet show, tinged with a bit of melancholy, and great good humor.
I can't recommend this one highly enough. If you can find it, you'll love it.

Not sure where you're watching The Detectorists, John, but if you can access BBC/iPlayer shows, I'd highly recommend
.It's another very funny look at small town life in rural England.
Just started watching Sopranos. About halfway through the first season. Really enjoying the interactions with the psychiatrist.

interesting because those were the parts i liked the least
the original concept was going to be a movie about a mobster in therapy for issues with his mother
that didn't work so they spun it into a tv show, but the original concept was much more about therapy than mob stuff and then they made it much more mob and kind of snuck in the therapy stuff
Really enjoyed Ludwig. David Mitchell plays a puzzle setter whose detective twin brother mysteriously goes missing, so he assumes his identity to try to find clues to what happened. He solves murders along the way basically by treating them as puzzles.
A very light-hearted, easy watch...I would describe it as like a British Monk.
It's like a thousand megabytes when all you need is a gig.
