Denis Law died. There is a chance I saw him play, but if so I don't remember it. A famous goal, in one of his last games, when his apparent greatness still marginally outweighed his exhausted frame in order to play top-flight football. I remember this goal, have watched it a number of times, and I still don't know how it works. Just to naturally find that space in the box, and then to do the backheel against his former club, who have erected a statue to him (along with Best and Charlton, whom I did see play), in one graceful movement, but it's not quite a backheel...
