2025 WSOP!!
I know it’s early and normally I’m not excited about WSOP this soon after but dang it, I’m itching to go back already!
I made some deep runs and cashed in 2024 but still feel unfulfilled by going home without some hardware on my wrist.
2025 is my year!!
Any thoughts on how the GG purchase might change it in 2025, if at all? I suspect it will be pretty similar to last year but with more online qualifiers, satellites, and events.
It’s a game of chicken and I don’t know that I’d try it in the Summer, but I booked my hotel last week for the Prime the day I flew out. The rates at MGM properties fell dramatically the week of the trip.
That is exactly what it is a moving crap shoot. I just cancelled my 2nd Cromwell Reservation for June 29 - July 11 to book the Horseshoe at the identical price. The Horseshoe rates for me are still DOUBLE for the first 12 days (at the moment) so I move across the street halfway thru the trip stay.
Its why I always tell people to keep checking - When someone figures out and explain to me what Caesars is going to charge at their various properties I will be all ears and educated.......... until then I just keep checking what the most recent deals are.
Just be sure to be prepared to patiently wait in long lines. So budget your time accordingly and try to register early for events (at least a day or two before, if possible).
But nothing beats the first time so good luck and soak it all in! It has an energy unlike any other tournament out there.
We might all have to be that patient if they don't give Diamonds special treatment. I might not even go if that's the case.
I guess this is a good time for my annual "if you want to avoid lines then reg the night before" post.
I've played quite a few WSOP events in the last 6 years and have only experienced long lines when attempting to register for a tournament that's already in progress. Best advice I can give to avoid waits is simply to buy your tickets the night before. I feel like 90% of the complaining about lines stems from operator error where people show up at the last minute and expect the Red Sea to part fo
That's if GG decides to have a 24 hour cage as well.
And 9 PM is no guarantee either. One year I went down at 11 pm to find a long line. I decided to try at 1 am. Where i was treated to a hilarious scene by Mike Matusow. This was before I became Diamond, so I couldn't see over to the other half of the registration area, but I could hear, and there's no mistaking Matusow's voice. He was trying to reg with Bellagio flags (they've always accepted Bellagio chips) and the cashier told him they would have to call the Bellagio to ask if Mike could possibly be a legit holder of Bellagio chips. I was rolling on the floor at the exchange between the cashier and Matusow. He never said "Do you know who I am" to his credit.
Honestly I have never stayed (walked thru it only ) there but they have valet and that's free for Diamond card holders. I have always stayed at the RIO or Horseshoe for the convenience of staying where the events are. But the last few years I play at so many more non WSOP events it's become slightly less important. Walking across the street (even as busy as E Flamingo can be) will only add 5 minutes tops to my time to hit the Ballrooms.
Last I looked the Horseshoe rates have dropped (due to c
They did a good job on the rooms. I went there several months ago so the casino was still being re-done.
Does anyone know which is better at the Flamingo, Go or Fab?

Yeah, it's a crapshoot. I knocked $100 off my June trip recently by just randomly checking the rates and canceling/re-booking.
One thing I find funny is how useless the WSOP-specific promo codes are. I tried using the "WSOP25" promo code today and the rates it yielded were significantly HIGHER than what I see through my standard search. The random default promos that seem to run 24/7/365 are typically going to get you a better price than the pathetic WSOP promo codes. I interpret this more as incompetence than malice on the part of CET, but a lot of rookies and neophytes may naively book with those WSOP codes and pay more than they actually would with no code applied, which is amusing.

Good to hear that - The rooms themselves are huge and I was lucky for all the years mine were always clean -just thread bare the last couple. The casino itself was a dark nasty dive for at least the last 3 years.

That is EXACTLY TRUE in my experience when checking pricing and has been for at least the last several years. Definitely "let the buyer beware"
I am planning to attend my first WSOP! Looking at the 2024 schedule, I'd like to play the Colossus and the Mini Main 1k, and be in attendance for the start of the ME to see that happen.
Is this typically a dead time for the rest of Vegas, because it's peak summer? I don't care about staying onsite, so I'd like to book somewhere a bit further away once the actual schedule drops. Or: should I guess at the timing based on the start of ME on Jul 2, and plan based on the last Colossus flight will start on the 29th?
I'm so excited.

I posted my estimate of the weekend events in another thread. This is based on patterns from the last few years:
1st Weekend (5/30-5/31) - $1k Mystery Millions
2nd Weekend (6/06-6/07) - Low budget mega field NLHE ala Gladiators, Housewarming, Big 50
3rd Weekend (6/13-6/14) - $1.5k Monster Stack
4th Weekend (6/20-6/21) - $1.5k Milly Maker
5th Weekend (6/27-6/28) - $400 Colossus
If your goal is to play Colossus and Mini Main, I would look at 6/27-6/29 as likely flight days for the Colossus, with the Mini Main likely running from 6/31-7/01. Main Event 1A will start on 7/02, that we know for sure.
I wouldn't say Vegas is dead in July, but it's very hot outside, which can limit the walkability even if you are relatively fit. During night time it will be business as usual. I was there for the 4th this year and it was jammed.

Huge thanks for this helpful information! See you on the 26th of June!

I believe your schedule is dead on, with Day 1A being on Friday except for the Mystery Millions which should have 1A on Thursday if it follows last year's pattern. I've already made reservations for the Horseshoe but it appears that Gold Coast rates look good by comparison; running a sale right now.

His dates may end up being correct, but some events have moved around in the previous years. I wouldn't book anything that can't be changed without a fee until the schedule is posted. Just sayin 😀
I stayed at the Gold Coast in 2018 (my first WSOP trip) and 2021 (the last WSOP at the Rio). I enjoyed the no frills old school vibe there. Perfectly decent place to stay if you have a car. Now that the WSOP is on the strip, I prefer to stay somewhere closer since I am always carless in Vegas. Horsehoe, Harrah's, LINQ, Flamingo, and Ellis Island have been some of my stays in the last few summers. All are fine. However, if I ever win a bracelet or make a final table at the WSOP, I might have to hit Ping Pang Pong in Gold Coast for my celebration dinner. That was always my late night spot after cashing tournaments at the Rio (usually some rinky-dink daily deepstack tournament).
