Dang. Just gonna miss seeing you again by a week or two.

GL in November and run great!

Shoot. Thanks for the thoughts! I hope those of us who are there can maybe meet Thursday night.

We had a wonderful time in France. We stayed in the 17th arrondissement and never even saw Paris "proper" except for the bus ride to dinner Friday night and to the races Sunday. It was really fun walking around a new area, which seemed almost tourist-free.

Crossing the Seine to isle de la Grande Jatte and finding Le Petit Poucet for dinner (it's down on the right). We were so lucky to come across this spot on the Seine.

After Paris, we headed to Deauville and spent a few days touring the area, including a quick stop in Honfleur, time in Pont-l'Évêque (fromage degustation with cider, which was awesome -- thanks to my hubby), and an amazing day in Étretat. I actually worked from my hotspot in a restaurant during lunch and then did a little work updating our website from my phone on top of the cliffs! Technology is amazing, but it does make vacations free from work a bit difficult.

In Deauville we did hit both casinos. We were staying between the two, but they were a bit of a walk. We preferred the Deauville casino because is was more intimate and "friendlier." Played Ultimate Hold 'Em (fun game) and Blackjack there and BJ and roulette at the other. Both were pretty quite. Only lost a few hundred, which is amazing (I was actually a slight winner). Deauville had live poker Friday and Saturday nights only, sadly.

This a view from our Air BnB in Deauville; the building to the far right is the second casino. Lots of water to walk around to get there (canals, not the ocean).

Next up, Vegas! Going to play some poker Thursday night.

Cool photos, thanks for sharing. Looks like a great trip. They used to play an EPT in Deauville if I remember correctly. Really jealous of the cheese and meats platter with the bread and wine.

Thanks. We had a blast! The cheeses were incredible. That's actually a local cider, which was very good -- I normally don't like cider.

Forgot this picture. The Deauville beach was covered, and I mean absolutely covered, with clam shells. There had been a storm, and we saw lots of clammers on the beach. However, we didn't see a clam on a menu in Deauville!

Played Thursday night an didn't go so well, but only down ~$225. Couple of hands:

Called blind while getting food (just got there). Flop A52, I look at A5 and bet, get one caller in MP. He is pretty tight, and will limp w/ AA, KK, AK, AQ, etc. He never has 34. Turn is a 7, I bet and he shoves for not much more. I call and he has 22.

Little while later I have black AA from UTG+1. I raise to $10 and get like five callers. LOL. Flop is 358 w/ two spades. I bet, get a caller, and another tightish player goes all in for not much more. Again, he could have JJ+, A8 (they think I'm full of it), KQs, etc. I sigh-call and he has 88. Just not my night.

I top off another $250 (in for $550) and cash out for $328. Let's hope tonight goes a little better.

Well, Saturday did not go as planned. Started off great by doubling up, but then started playing poorly. I called a big shove on the turn w/ top two vs. an obvious straight. For some reason, I thought he had ~$150, but it was twice that :( However, I worked my way back up, and then this happened vs. the same player:

PLO: UTG straddles for $10, BTN raises to $50, I call from SB w/ AKJ5 ds (not diamonds). Probably should have raised, but didn't like being OOP and BTN had me covered. Villain in BB calls, UTG (tilted/loose) shoves for $100, BTN calls, I call, BB calls w/ $105 behind (LOL).

Flop: 2d6d5c, checks around
Turn: 2d6d5c5s, I bet $100 w/ trips, BB calls all in, BTN calls.
River: 6s

BB has JcTc9s6h! WTF?
BTN supposedly had two over pairs w/ diamonds, which I believe.

Losing that $700 pot to a two outer tilted me, and I didn't make a comeback. Down ~$400 for the night.

Forgot to mention that hubby and I decided to quite wine until Vegas. We have had two beers each, but that's it. Not sure we'll make it on wine, but we are trying. We drank a lot (a lot!) of wine in France 😉 Not only will it help our health and weight, but we'll have many more dollars to gamble with!

We managed to get my dad and his wife a room with our timeshare points, so they are pretty happy -- we saved them ~$400. They were staying in a place I've never even heard of, the Siegel Select by the convention center. I thought they were going to be farther away, but it turns out it's closer (by walking, at least). About 16 minutes walk, which is perfect. (They will have a car, too.)

The quitting wine lasted about a week. LOL. We have cut down, though. Tonight's game is ROE, thank goodness! We've been asking for it. We'll see what happens.

Once again I got my ass kicked by these yahoos. First hand the button straddles $10. Four limps to me, so I pop it big w/ AcKd to $100 to try to stop the domino effect. BTN folds, SB goes all in for $125, and UTG tanks and finally goes all in w/ $140. SB has QsJc, UTG has AhQd. Flop has a J and then runs out four hearts to give UTG the nut flush. LOL. Oh, well.

The next big hand was a NLHE bomb pot (yuck). $50 in the pot. I have Ad6s.

Top: Tc6c6h
Bottom: 7d7d8s

I bet $50, call, guy above w/ AQ goes all in w/ $400. Another tight player goes all in for $100. I'm 90% sure AQ guy has a 7. I figure if he has T6, my A is good on the bottom. I tank and finally call. The other guy folds 62.

I was right, he had 73, but he had clubs and hits the top. The $100 guy had 88. Ugh. I should have folded.

I finally managed to log into the new tpt format on my browser so....IN

Excellent! Thanks for joining.

My "home game" is ROE now if the table agrees -- fantastic. Also have dealer's choice bomb pot each round, which is 90% PLO.

Actually won $600 last night after losing my first $600 ($300, rebuy $300) and rebuying again for $200. Why can I turn that last $200 into $1, 400 but I can't seem to do it with the first $300? Ugh. Unfortunately, my husband got absolutely crushed. He was up a ton, then misread his hand and lost a huge pot. Thought he had the nut straight w/ AK, but he had AQQX. The guy called him down w/ KK9X for the little end. He also lost in PLO w/ QdQXdX flopping a set of Qs and hitting the flush on the turn to a guy w/ Kd2dXX. Then lost w/ top set of Qs again to the same guy who hit a K flush on the river. Needless to say, my husband hates QQ.

I got justice on the AhQx guy from last week -- took his stack twice! Felt really good 😉 Funny enough, he actually took the last of my first $300 in NLHE w/ QQ on a QcTcXs when I had Kc9c, but I got it back and then some w/ a set of Qs in PLO and a set of Ks in PLO. Qs were hot!

Sorry I'm not better at remembering specific hands. I will do better in Vegas! Against these guys, most of them are so transparent that there's not much thinking involved. Value bet and hope they don't suck out on you; fold to most of them if they show any strength! Only my husband and one or two other guys actually play above what's in their hand.

So excited for Vegas. We leave one week from Tuesday. I hope the government gets its act in gear before then!!!

The excitement as dimmed a bit for me. I had a reservation for my wife's and my favorite restaurant for our trip. I get a text today from them that since it is race week, we are expected to spend at least $250 per person or we had to cancel our reservation. Sorry, not planning to order 4 entrees and multiple bottles of wine to get to that level.

What? Per person? That's nuts and so inappropriate -- I'd never go back. What restaurant?

that is outrageous. I understand it's your favorite restaurant but I would either respond or provide a boatload of negative publicity

Agreed. I am not worried about my own (international) flights, but it would suck if many people within the US either couldn't travel to Vegas or just cancel their trips due to uncertainty.

Is requiring a minimum spend discriminatory? Seems as if it would be, especially since you've been there before, so you know the menu and that's not the policy, and you already have reservations.

Yeah this is pretty stupid. These restaurants owners would rather have empty tables than people spending what they usually spend outside race weekend. And then they complain business is slow lmao.

Well, I have a fun update. Hilton offered us $50 each to a viewing party for F1 at Elara. All you can eat/drink. We are going Friday afternoon, then will play PLO at Aria Friday night. It's $100 on Saturday, but Dad and his wife are coming in Saturday evening -- not sure what time, so it'd be difficult to arrange. I'd rather go Friday, anyway!

We are meeting venice10 and urbanwaste (and anyone else who can join!) Thursday (Nov. 20) evening. Where do you guys suggest we meet? My only thought is Venetian at the food hall. Never been, but seems kind of central (urbanwaste is at Cromwell and we are near Fontainebleu -- not sure where venice10 is) and it has a good poker room. Plus, I want to try Howlin' Ray's 😉

Any other ideas? Any bars that are quiet and not outrageously expensive? I honestly have no idea -- I spend most of my time in Vegas at the poker table 😉 Venice10 and urbanwaste, please chime in!!!

And speaking of wine prices (kind of) Black Tap is selling $15 bottles of wine for $60 - $72 and Close Company is worse at over $80! Insane. At least Close Company isn't selling grocery store brands, but I'd never pay those prices.

I'm staying at the Venetian (of course) so that works for me.

Perfect!

It's finally the day! We fly out this afternoon. Don't land until around 8:30, but that's OK. We always bring champagne with us to christen the room, yada, yada, yada, and then we might head out for some poker -- or we might just get a good night's sleep since we are both working in the mornings. I'm looking forward to meeting venice10 and whomever else shows up -- also playing in the new Venetian room!

Shoe (I am not a girlie-girl) and roll pics. The single pair of shoes was a last-minute decision to stay very comfy on the plane.

LFG! I’m 19 days out and ready to go right friggin’ now.

Run good with flights and the rest will take care of itself!

Well, flight now arrives six minutes early (six is good 😉 )!

On the plane. At least it's an exit row, but I really miss when we used to get upgraded to first class. It is nice to have my husband around more often, though. I'm lucky that he is my best friend.

Flight delayed, but we are having fun. We are not betting on the incoming flights, but we are having fun. The food is actually really good. There are some Korean cucumbers that are delicious and so is the Thai soup.
