Update on poker in Vicksburg, Mississippi
The last information I could find from March of 2009 with a search for Vicksburg sounded a bit ominous about the future of poker there. What is the latest? Does Ameristar still have a room? I'll be travleing through the area for the first time on a Sunday in mid August and was hoping to find a game.
Thanks,
Patty

I stopped in there on a weekend in 2023. Had fun at a very lively 1/3 table. They just had 2 games of it running, and I played until they closed at which time we were the last game.
That's part of the problem with this small cardroom and many others, the fact that they are only open part-time on weekends. This does not present much of an opportunity to attract new players, and about all that's left is a shrinking pool of regulars.
Explain please…do you really expect new players to pop into the game at 04:00 or play all night?
Post COVID closing overnite is the norm in many markets even for larger, stronger rooms.
No, not just about the hours of operation. The gripe is more about the limited days open. This one is Thur. - Sunday only.
I was just passing through, but to me this just seemed like a small casino in a small town and I was pretty happy that they had a couple of fun 1/3 games running. Bills played, coconut water was free, and there were no nerdy pros taking things too seriously. But then again, I'm used to being happy about things that others seem to complain about.
