This is a topic that gets a lot of play (especially by me), but doesn't really have its own thread so kind of just gets spread around. Seems reasonable to just have a thread to discuss the media.

Anyways, I dont really endorse this opinion; but in this article Hanania does make a reasonable argument that acknowledges the leftist MSM's partisan flaws, but also argues it is in its totality a positive, and most certainly better than anything that would fill the vacuum if they weren't around. He does acknowledge when it comes to matters of race, the leftist media does show itself to be completely unhinged and should be treated as such. But this is the exception to the rule.
Definitely something for someone who is inherently very critical and skeptical of the media (such as myself) to think about. Especially the part about thinking what would fill the vacuum if they weren't around.
i mean, it's a fairly logical link that conservative politicians were attacking the president's of the universities to the point where elise stefanik is keeping some kind of scoreboard of how many she get's removed... and then a plagiarism scandal is also suddenly thrust forward on one of the people on the "scoreboard".. this isn't even tinfoil enough for lucky to be interested..
I obviously agree that conservatives are leading the charge. That was my point. Victor was claiming that it was all done at the behest of "the Israel lobby."

My point is that conservatives have been interested in putting Ivy League heads on pikes for approximately the last 40 years. The focus now is on failure to address antisemitism, which obviously overlaps more with groups that are mainly concerned about Israel. But there have been other rallying issues in the past, including wokeness, gender ideology, critical race theory, alleged censorship of conservative political views, rejection of the classical Western canon, and moral relativism.
Some of the criticism is deserved. Some of it (a lot of it) is just an extension of an anti-intellectualism that is increasingly pervasive in the modern GOP.

Given the Ivy League colleges are essentially super lucrative hedge funds with small side institutions of education they use to not pay taxes on their investment income, I assume you are critical of them too?

Depends what you mean by critical, I guess. I generally think the education value of the actual schooling is overblown to a large degree. But the paper you get at the end has a lot of accumulated value in most people’s eyes. I think that the conservative outrage at least by the congresscritters and the judges is all for show, they’ll keep giving the Ivy League schools the boost when they hire aids/staffers/clerks.
I don’t think there is any indoctrination or whatever nonsense happening. The idea that higher education leans left isn’t about indoctrination it’s about reason and logic expanding horizons vs small mindedness. When exposed to other people and cultures outside of their original sphere most young people realize the Republican narratives are fraudulent, hate filled grifts..

--Cliffnotes: In a girls basketball game in NY City, players on the home team were continually verbally abusing players on the other team with antisemitic slurs, to the point the game was cancelled and security had to step in.
Except for the Daily Beast, it did not appear any leftwing MSM publication has any interest in the story, and instead right wing media is running with it on their own. Shocking I know the leftwing MSM wouldn't find this to be a newsworthy story.
What is even more interesting, is that the photos of the players who were the abusers were blurred out, while the victims faces were shown. I dont know what goes into deciding what to show and what to blur out, especially when it comes to minors. But if I was one of the players who was being abused, or their parents, the last thing I would want in this climate is to have their picture flooded all over social media. Almost seems like the goal is to single out Jews for further abuse, while protecting the abusers.

That kind of makes it worse. Why do you think they went to the effort to find old pictures of (only) the Jewish team? What is the possible motivation for releasing their pictures to the world, other than trying to get them abused more, ostensibly to make a better story?
It’s not unheard of to tie old/new pictures to articles….
It was done commonly even when media was on paper u know .
That is why u often see the word « archive » under the pictures when it was an old one due probably to the lack of time to go on the premises to have actual live event pictures …

Given the context of this story and what is going on in the world, do you think it acceptable journalistic practice to use children like this? Does it bother you at all only the Jewish teams pictures were printed for the world to see?

Effort? Things haven't been down in the morgue on microfiche for a few years now. And who is this "they" releasing pictures to the world? If I had to guess, I'd say it was the same people that publish pictures of high school sports millions of times a year.

The American MSM doesn't appear to be touching the Iran whipping story yet, but Yahoo scalped this off the Telegraph, so some Western media that is less in bed with Islamofascism is reporting it.
It is actually a little amusing that the pro Hamas supporters are spending energy protesting the American MSM, especially the NYT. The MSM has actually mainly been treating Islamofascism, in both the West and the Middle East, very favorably.
