Agree with auditor, but some of the smartest people I've met are actuaries. Probably helps that I work in insurance, they tend to congregate there.

Honesty has never been a requirement for any of my work.

But when it comes to dullness actuaries win imo, often cited as the occupation for people who find accountancy too exciting.

In fact, it's quite the hindrance.

Accounting, especially with modern automated accounting systems, is mind-numbingly boring. Junior auditors have it almost as bad.

I don't know the details of what is causing the rise in violence there, but because they use the US dollar and because of inflation, it is of course possible that Biden ruined Ecuador.

I've always wanted to go there but because they use the dollar, it's more expensive than neighboring counties.

Meanwhile the Colombian peso is about 20% higher vs the dollar than when I was last there. They elected a leftist president which sent the peso down, then his son got caught up in some corruption scandal and the markets decided that he wasn't going to be able to push through the reforms that he wanted, sending the peso back higher.

yeah. i think there was a lot of "american exceptionalism" that was crushed by finding out that not every country is dying for average Americans to just choose them and move in.
