Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
It makes me sad how much you all hate Israel
It really does
Your point being that 3,000 is a preposterous number of journalists and the numbers clearly suggest targeting?
I didn't have a point either way, just a suggestion of how to analyze it. I have no idea how many journalists are in Gaza. 3000 doesn't sound preposterously high, but then 300 doesn't sound preposterously low.
All counties suck. All governments lie. War is awful and gives more power to the worst people. As far as Israelis go, it's racist to think they are any worse than any other people, but it's also racist to think they are any better.

Israeli is now considered a race?
First a religion was considered to be a race, and now it's a nationality.
You can say someone may have a bias against certain people without claiming that everything that can describe a person is a race.
You might not feel there is a distinction, but many people (including myself) may have good reasons to be biased against certain types of people. Even if you don't think the reasons are good you're going to be alienating people by calling them racist.
I had so much to post, and just no stamina to post it right now, long week. I'll get to it next week hopefully.
Anyone watch ALL the testimony out of The Hague so far?
Hard to watch that and not think that the Israeli team is handing the South Africans their lunch. The South African case was almost instantly obliterated. It's nice to see the Germans so forcefully support Israel on the matter too. The Germans are going to present their own case now showing it's not genocide. Pretty remarkable move.
Anyway have a good weekend all. I'm sure this thread will be chalked full of spicy takes by Monday.

You can’t possibly be this obtuse.

Racism, xenophobia, nationalism/patriotism - it's all the same ****ing thing. Putting different people in groups and judging them as a group instead of as individuals.
Germany should be ashamed

You may believe so, but most people do not think they're the same thing.
There definitely are ways that culture varies among people of different nationalities. That doesn't mean as individuals they should be discriminated against, but it may be useful to make some assumptions about people raised in particular countries. Certainly there are easily seen ways in which most people raised in Japan, for example, act differently than most people raised in the US, despite the countries even being strong allies for all of my lifetime.
That was from the Israel part
I'll bite - what are these photos supposed to be telling us?
How do you interpret those facial expressions and mannerisms?
'cause you look.... you look as an army.

Anyone can see the
Blatant expressions on their faces
Indeed it's pretty obvious to
Everyone really
Surely you see this?
WTF are you talking about? You can rationalize Israel's actions but you really expect for everyone to get behind the destruction and death Israel is inflicting? Based on your posts since this has started and assuming you've been honest I don't think you're proud of what Israel is doing. You may agree it's necessary but are you proud? And if a staunch Israel supporter can have a hard time being proud about it how can you think people with less conviction "hate Israel"? A lot of people just don't like to see stomach turning violence.
i think the hate has less to do with the israeli response than you might expect. remember that people itt were openly cheering on the slaughter of israeli civilians on the first page of this thread
