Yeah, 4th and 14 is brutal from the 44, but you lose the game a lot of the time exactly like what just happened.
I'm guessing they go for it 4th and 4 from the 34 given the kicker situation.

3rd down play didn't help and suggested they'd decided it was all or nothing.
other thing would have been to go for a 5-7 yarder completion which...they can either pick up with yds after catch, have a more gettable kick or a more realistic 4th down
