Michigan Football: HARBAUGH
Alright, the season starts in a month and I cannot effing wait. Bump this as necessary.
The schedule this year is full of highs and lows. A I-AA team to start (the defending national champ, but still), followed by Oregon, Notre Dame, and Penn State in succession. 6 relative cakewalks (should be, at least)in Northwestern, Eastern Michigan, Purdue, Illinois, Minnesota, and Michigan State precede the final two tough games with Wisconsin and OSU. Certainly doable, but by no means easy.
Two big events today:
1. Michigan extends contract to play ND through 2031. Jesus Christ, that is a ridiculously long time. I guess it means we should have a solid OOC opponent for a long time, but I wouldn't have minded a little more variety in the UM schedule in the next 25 years. Oh well.
2. Sam McGuffie committed to Michigan. He is the #1 ranked All-Purpose back for the class of 2008 and looks sick. Check out this video:
Anyway, any discussion of this or any new topics would be great. Go Blue, baby.
[emoji481] cheers boys. Natty! Feels so sweet.

Still haven't went to bed. This win, this season, really the last 3 seasons, will be in my DNA forever. I really don't think I'll go one day for the rest of my life without thinking about this 3 year run to the mountain top. Honestly I am completely satisfied as a fan now. Whatever happens from this point on is pure gravy.
Also subscribe to Wolverine Devotee on YouTube and Rumble. Dude has the best edited game videos. Watched the OSU 21 game, 22 game, 23 game so many times I've lost track. Same with the big ten championship games. I have no clue how many times I will rewatch Bama and Washington before I die. Hundreds minimum.
Ahahahahahahaha
HAD TO LET EM KNOW BOIIIII
That was ****ing epic.
Can't believe it actually happened
The Hip got to mock me for 9 years. In the end, GREEAR was right. I think we are both satisfied with the end result, we can shake hands as champions and squash the beef.
Miss this thread back when it was poppin!!
Dude we are all bros here. ****ing 15-0!
That valenti call was cracking me up. I don't mind them most days but the cheating scandal broke his brain. Just whining day after day.
Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not but that dream is over. We can't even hold onto our 6th OL guy let alone JJ leaving and Harbaugh most likely gone. And vs that nightmare schedule we're most likely going 7-5 next year which is whatever. It's time to rebuild. Sux we're gonna waste an elite defense next year like Penn State did this year but those are the breaks. The mediocre recruiting over the last 3 years is finally gonna catch us. No portal magic will save us this time. Still the last 3 years on the field, nothing can take those memories away. This national championship will be cherished forever.
ILP: We will have a top 5 defense in the country next year. Whether we have a shot to make the playoff and go in a run or not, will solely depend on what QB we get in the portal. Maybe Roger’s comes in and morphs into Joe Burrow, you never know.
Standing pat at QB, and yeah, we’re prob losing 3-4 games. What helps is USC/WASH will be ass next year. Those games looked much tougher 3 months ago.

Yea I'm probably being too pessimistic. Just really hate the fact that Texas is on the schedule. Didnt need that. Checked out Roger's stats. His 2021 & 22 stats look pretty amazing. Hope that happens. I'm definitely a believer.

Happy 1 week hangover anniversary!
Still can't believe we ****ing did it. Never thought I'd see a National Championship for Michigan in my lifetime.
I gotta admit, when the bracket came out, a FSU/WASH path to title was salivating. FSU should have 100% got in IMO, based on what I think college football should be about.
When we drew Bama, the line was initially -2 -140. I figured we would be underdogs by kickoff. That was such a brutal draw. Go from a 14-17pt favorite to a coinflip so ESPN could get better ratings. It’s just a brutal decision for us.
That being said, it’s a billion times sweeter ending Bama/Saban in route to winning it all.
Right before the punt with 44 seconds left I was begging to not even have a return man back. Our offense just isn’t built to drive with no timeouts and that little time. I equally cannot believe the punt was muffed, then recovered, and then not fumbled on that hit….. HOW did he hang onto that?
What an incredible game. Definitely felt like we won the Natty that night.
For those of you who pay attention to other teams, lemme ask this: Are other fanbases as ****ing ridiculous as ours?
Instead of enjoying the afterglow of a national championship, we get constant caterwauling over every last thing that has happened since. Harbaugh leaves? OH NOES, we'll never win another game! Minter? DOOMED! Warde hasn't been fired? WE CAN'T COMPETE! Some 4 star commits elsewhere? WE CAN'T RECRUIT! Harbaugh might take more assistants with him? WE'RE GOING TO BE STUCK WITH TWO STAR COACHES!
Ohio State buys some transfers? WE'LL NEVER WIN AGAIN!
It's exhausting.
Thankfully there is always the option of turning off the internet. I might just have to do that, at least as it relates to Michigan football, until September. In the meantime I think I'll go buy a national champs hoodie.
Jesse Minter following JH to the Chargers to be his DC.

Mgoblog has been completely insufferable. At the same time I do sympathize with many of the "complainers/whiners/doom & gloomers" out there but the real source of their angst is their ridiculous expectations. People need to accept that Michigan is never gonna care about winning nearly as much as Ohio State, Bama, Georgia, LSU, Oregon, USC, FSU, Texas, etc, and by Michigan I mean the higher-ups (Not just Warde, gotta follow the money). That's what makes what happened the last 3 years that much more special. Harbaugh found a way to win at a super high level anyways even without the institutional support that other big time programs get. I think in time, more and more people will realize that what Harbaugh did is literally the greatest accomplishment in college football history and he should at least be in the argument of greatest football coach in history. We're literally the last real team to ever win it all, the last real team of student athletes EVER to win it all. The last team that doesn't illegally pay players to EVER win it all.
But the problem is the Harbaugh model is not sustainable becuz Harbaugh is gone. People need to be adults about that and understand that. We'll still be good. Like mostly 8-4 to 10-2 range but beating teams like Ohio state is once again gonna be something we do once or maybe twice a decade. That's just the reality of the situation. People need to stop crying about it. This is sports we're talking about. At the end of the day it doesn't ****ing matter. Just sit back, adjust your expectations and enjoy.
BTW on a very related note: I really see no way Moore is gonna survive. As I said before, next year with no QB + that schedule, it still looks like 7-5 to me, and 2025 is gonna be rough too (we have Oklahoma on the schedule) given how many defensive pieces we're losing. Projecting that far out is dumb but it's gonna be another rough year, probably 8-4. Now think about that. We just won a national title. Expectations are set at an all time high becuz people are dumb. Moore is gonna come in with the same lack of institutional support that has always been the Michigan way + major roster/QB issues + tough schedules, and disappoint and piss off everyone the first 2 years. I'm sure he'll get a token 3rd year cuz coaches usually get that but my god I seriously don't recall a coach more set up to fail than Moore. Moore could be as good as a coach as Saban and yet he'd still be a significant underdog to not get fired before year 4.
And again, none of the above bothers me. I know what Michigan is. Been watching them since 1988. I have no illusions. What Harbaugh accomplished despite all that can never be appreciated enough. I will be watching Michigan football porn of the last 3 years for the rest of my life. I'm still so happy now that we won it all. Seriously haven't went one day without watching Michigan porn since 1/8. But yeah we're gonna revert back to being a 9-3 type program save the next couple years which will probably be worse and I'm fine with that. In fact with the new playoff format we're literally entering a new era that is more friendly to a 9-3 type program than ever before.
It is remarkably difficult to be more than a “9-3” team - I would argue that there are only 3 teams that consistently exceed that level and it remains to be seen if Alabama stays there with Saban gone.
We should have learned from the RichRod and Hoke eras how hard it is just to stay in the 9-3 tier, but people seem to have forgotten that lesson.
I’m a little more optimistic about next year and about Sherrone than you are but the sniping after any loss is going to be awful.
Negativity fuels engagement.
Michael Schur made this point and I'll never forget it. The 2018 Boston Red Sox won 108 games and cruised through the playoffs to a World Series Title. They won more games than any MLB team in 17 years and set an all time franchise record for wins.
If you listened to any Sports call in show that year, you'd swear from the fan reaction that the team was on pace to go 70-92. I think people have internalized that being critical or negative makes them sound smarter, and combine that with the fact that positive statements don't get nearly the kind of engagement feedback that negative ones do.
