MTTs and life - my journey

Hey everyone,

Im a 27yr old long term poker & life noob who has had enough of that, if you want to know more about me i have a few old threads on here. I spent all winter on the beach doing nothing and got home and just kind of got grinding, studying and felt that its time to really put in time and effort and see where it takes me. I have been studying more than ever, doing db review, got some coaching etc etc. Still there are as always tons of things that i need to stop/improve/add/remove. I hope that this thread can be a place where i hold myself accountable, and will use it for keeping up with my goals and making sure im staying on track. Ive been journaling for a while now but i think since openly being honest to a bunch of people is terrifying it seems like a good idea to do it. Maybe the motivation to this thread is gone overnight and thats that, we will see 😀

I dont like to look at my graphs daily and dont know how often ill post graphs but i know threads need graphs so here are my last 2 months (+ guesstimating 8-9k rb, bloated number due to binking acr promotion for 5k). I grind off peak, can you spot the 1 peak sunday session? lol

- Too many mtts played
- Too few days off

I struggle with taking time off, why this is can be discussed but i think whatever answer i come up with is an excuse anyways. I dont really play that many tables so its alot of hours in that graph. I need a minimum of 1, ideally 2 days off a week. One issue im having is taking a day off and then studying all day which is kind of counter productive as i never really disconnect from poker and truly just relax. On one hand days off are the best to study as i grind first thing in the morning and after 9-12h sitting down to learn can be challenging. I think the solution to this is partly shorter sessions but also just staying consistent and making use of the days off (in moderation).

Ive really let myself slip diet and health wise, I spent 6 months in thailand and it opened my eyes up to travel which is something id like to do more. But i want to be financially, physically and mentally in a position to do so and be able to enjoy it so my goals will be mostly around day to day stuff in life (diet, reading etc) and poker (study, time off, session lengths etc). I have alot of bad habits to break and good ones to create.

Ill leave you with this banger of a song (havent cried in a hot minute but this one got to me).

So i guess i changed my mind. Why is a little bit difficult to explain, but i was partly thinking of how i was letting someone who is irrelevant to me really get to me and in all honesty that kind of bitch reaction is not what i want to see from myself, if i dont respect your opinion it really shouldnt bother me. So im back, for now.

Poker has really acellerated lately and i ended of the year w 3 months where i made (if u include a week of 2024 where im up 23k) around 6 figures with rb:

However my mental health has taken some beatings. I feel like i created a super good approach towards poker and my mindset there is on point, but in life im honestly quite miserable and it really is time to start to value health so im taking some days off now to set some things in place and start building upon my 1) sleep 2) diet 3) excercise.

I will post whatever i feel like i need to get off my chest in here and track my own progress, if i feel like it. For now i felt like i should man up and keep sharing my journey, partly because a few people has asked me to but also because somewhere i want to.

So. I never thought id be in a position to make 6 figures in 3 months, **** i was kind of trying to reach the milestone of doing it in a year. Well it happened, and i have doubled and tripled down on the studying approach that got me there, i made some re-investments in making my entire process more efficient and soon ill have the last piece of the puzzle.

I was going to say im very excited to see what this year has in store and it just smacks me in the face with making 24k or something my first 5 sessions, but i was feeling reallllllly worn out, depression starting to sneak in and overall not doing great.

Its ****ing hard to improve on these things, but i will go about it the same way i do poker which is basically implement the habit, replacing an old bad one, and then just slowly and surely finetuning it in a pace which i feel is not overwhelming. For now takiing a few more days just mainly off poker to get my head straight. Strugling a lotttttt with low self esteem and toxic thoughts towards my self and feel like i have some reading, reflecting and remininding myself of what matters to do. I have no doubt 2024 holds alot of possibilities and room for improvement and i will be ready to do my part.

9/9 winning sessions so far this year, lol.

Glad to see you didn't give up on the blog. Love to check in here.

Yep, think i read about it in atomic habits, i really like the idea of just breaking things down to super basics and then from there its pretty straight forward

Tyty, i did indeed.

Think this makes it 14/14 winners for 2024? Lol

Played 3-400 mtts where i made some but not alot (and some rb) and had a pretty fokin clean one today

I have had one losing session this year and i think i played in total 21 sessions. Currently almost smashed my previous best month by almost 3x and yeah.... Poker is going absurdly well results wise, which obviously helps me get options to get out of this depressed stuck at home mess poker can make u sometime. I stayed home all winter to grind & study to prove to myself i can be discipined and do some damage when i commit myself to it, and it sure payed off. Just bought a new solid laptop so looking go to thailand probably for 2-3 months and then seriously have to relocate at some point as this conutry will make anyone depressed most of the year, but lacking alot of good options within europe afaik, looking at croatia for now mainly.

I dont really have much interesting to say, and am half asleep so blom out

Nice! Glad to hear that you run good and it helps you to get out of that mental state. Good luck in Thailand! 😉

Hej!
