2023 NFL Regular Season
As a niners fan I have spent this entire offseason in a silent rage
The last 20 years of being a niners fan has been an a
chiefs down to 3, 9ers up to 7, not surprised by either of those. wouldnt be shocked if 9er get to 7.5
i wanted to bet ravens vs bills as i think the chiefs are a better all around team than the bills
but ugh, mahomes is HIM
Mahomes probably secretly rooting for them to not make the SuperBowl so they don't have an excuse to not get him a couple new receivers next season.
The idea is that the gain for reaching for the goalline is high (a TD) so the penalty for failing to get there has to be equally high.
In the unlikely scenario... if this is a player trying to get out of their own endzone, doesn't make the line before fumbling, and it goes out of bounds in play... it's a safety? It's a rule that only benefits the defense and especially so on their own goal line.
Fortunately the Eagles don't have to worry about it as a 1 yard push is almost automatic. Unfortunately, the NFL might get rid of that first.
Mahomes has put up an MVP season vs. playoff defenses. Insane.

It is a safety, no?
Ravens-3 seems like you'll be able to get better later to hedge if you want
Yes. So..
The gain for a player reaching for a TD is high and they fumble forward out of bounds. Advantage defense.
The gain for a player reaching to get the ball out of their endzone is high and they fumble forward. Advantage defense.
I guess the difference is that the player reaching to score doesn't have to, but that's situational. What if it's 4th down?
And only because Freddie Mitchell fumbled out of the endzone in the same game...
So if there is no in the endzone to catch this and it went out the back, then it would be a touchback while no one was reaching for the endzone in a high advantage situation.

I heard someone use the analogy that "if you're storming the castle and you drop your ladder in the moat, you don't get your ladder back" and I get i
Is that moat regulation size or WHAT???!!???
Where do you guys think Ben Johnson will end up next year?
I'm guessing it's a pretty much conclusion that he'll leave to be a head coach SOMEWHERE, but where is the real question!

Iβve heard two things
- he turned down the Panthers last year and theyβre chasing him again
- his asking price is $15m per year. Pretty incredible for a 1st year coach
feels like the Bills window closed tonight. a good run, but not quite good enough.
They're currently $45m over the cap for next season
they can't get out of that insane Von Miller deal til after next season. Diggs counts $27m on their cap next season.
maybe they re-structure Jawsh and push his cap hit down the track? ($47m cap hit currently)
yep
Oh yeah, was traveling Saturday, so only caught up just now. Anders Carlson still needs to be replaced.

I doubt anyone who has multiple options like Ben Johnson will pick the Panthers unless they pay an absurd amount of money. If the #1 upside of your job opening is "weak division" you're in trouble.
Re Bills SuperBowl window closing: Right now they have the 3rd shortest odds to win it next year on Draftkings (behind the two obvious favorites)
I dunno as a Jets fan, I see the Bills making huge gains from mid season on. Allen is playing great, he is in his prime, o-line and run game very good. Their defense sucks and so do their receivers. But I think it's a good team. Firing head coach, drafting a legit number 1 receiver and improving defense, there you go. They are still in it. Can't see them firing head coach since they had a good year... but it would go a long way. It's their division still.
Brutal loss. bruuuuuutal. Defense was a joke.
Sean Mcdermott is defensive coach and his D has always sucked.
He is a weirdo and no one likes him

His fake punt was beyond stupid.
“They were up three at the time, I believe it was, and wanted to be aggressive. You only get one chance. Obviously didn’t work, but it’s a decision I made and you live with it."
Andy Reid sodomized him. Every play Big Red called worked, all game long. Pass Run didn't matter.
Josh Allen did what he could, but they had no hope.
They pick at #28. At that point the big name WR's are going to be off the board already. There's obviously a chance to get a legit number 1 but no guarantee. Especially regarding rookie year production.
Basically the same problem the Chiefs are going to face in the offseason.

give CIN a #1 and a #3 for Tee
problem solved
Yea not easy but just off top of my head, Devante Adams and Pickens were second rounders. They should try anyway.
Not for the Bills (or Chiefs) because Tee needs to get paid.

Pickens is a good example. Adams had his breakthrough in year 3. Pretty sure Bills go WR in round 1 or 2 so they'll certainly try.
49ers are gonna choke, the Super Bowl ticket is the Lions!
AJB and DK were 2nd rounders.
A lot of good receivers outside of the first round over the years. And this WR class is loaded.
