OK Vlogger Thread, we are going with some new parameters to try to make this the POSITIVE vlogger thread that it is supposed to be, not the AIDS vlogger thread where a few loonies ruin it for the rest. Note that 'positive' does not equal 'only positive', it means anything negative being said CAN'T be namecalling or wild, unsubstantiated speculation regarding any and all vloggers. Personal lives and anything aside from poker is OFF THE TABLE.

A new update March 2019:
NO ****ING POLITICS!
I love that he lies about that; he looks like a guy who does a lot of exercising and isn’t obese to the point he can’t walk up stairs without losing his breath. That much is for sure.
It isn’t a lie if there is no expectation of the truth.
Is there anyone on social media from whom you would expect the truth?
Rice attempts to explain or justify behavior or an attitude with logical reasons, even if these are not appropriate.
That is his “truth.”
Ah yes. I often forget about this. This is like a post covid development in society where young people do not consider things a lie or a falsehood if it's "their truth."
You'll see this on a ton on social media and these manosphere; man vs. woman debate podcasts. Someone will say a blanket statement like:
"All men/women are garbage,"
The host will combat it with,
"Well, 100% of any demographic can not possibly fit into one category,"
And the person will come back with (usually in an aggressive manner):
"Well, in MY WORLD... my entire life (group of people) have treated me horribly.... so I'm living MY TRUTH. You can't tell me that!"
It's frustrating for sure, but people's upbringing plays a lot into this. Some people had severely emotionally damaging parents who overreacted to every mistake they ever made. So, as a kid, when they spilled a drink on the floor, there was no such thing as an
"Oops, you made a mess, buddy. Let's clean this up. "
Their parents either scolded them or reacted with violence. So not only does the kid grow up deathly terrified of making a mistake, but they'll twist the narrative of any wrongdoing or mistakes on their part in any situation so they're not seen at fault.
It's not a lie if you're "Living your truth."

Such an amazing cope. Like it isnt a lie if the person believes it because it their world or their truth.
Like if a person is fat/obese, that its a reality no matter what they believe themself.
If you are telling yourself obvious lies like that and just creates your own reality so to speak we have to be deep down the mental illness road imo.
I miss the days when you just say that someone is crazy, and people would nod in agreement and go about their day.
But ever since people got woke, and realized that some disabilities and mental illnesses get exclusion from persecution of their bad behavior, people pick something that align with what they don't want to be confronted with and we're all expected to play along.
It's like the Family Guy episode where Peter finds out he's "Ree-totted," then goes around being a total dick, disrespecting people, and when he's confronted or about to be reprimanded for his bad behavior he just goes "I'm ree-totted", and the person backs down because they can't say or do anything. LOL
Rice is an excentric, marches to the beat of a different drummer. Yes he’s weird.
I’m glad he’s happy living a simple life. Some people have everything and are miserable, some people have nothing and are content.
Different people have different priorities. And weirdos like rice are actually interesting. Normal people are a dime a dozen and don’t need vlogs. Rice on the other hand has everyone here talking about him. It seems like some of you are mad he’s content with a simple life

Nope, not it at all. More worried that, unassisted and allowed to be this way for another 2-3 years, the springs finally let loose and innocent people get hurt.
This guy fits the profile.

It's possible to be all of these things and still be someone who's very condescending, self-righteous, views himself as better than others, and has weapons-grade unselfawareness.
Guys, like you, conveniently ignore this. But if you like him, that's cool. I don't dislike him. Nothing in his life could affect mine in any way. But my gimmick around here is to point out ridiculousness.

I'd tend to agree with this if he was just quietly and humbly living his own life and content with that. The guy is an arrogant braggart and is broadcasting his ass-clown life on YouTube in all it's hilarity for all to witness. As such he is inviting people to question and criticize what exactly it is that he is doing.
Further to that point, Diesel swiftly shadow bans anyone who questions him in his video comments. So this thread is the only place for people to express anything other than a flattering view, much like is the case with his idol The Trooper.

yeah he opens himself to ridicule and criticism by broadcasting it. i have some silly habits myself but i keep to myself mostly and just grind .
one of my 2024 goals is to stack el d though .

I'd question how happy he is.
I've read a few people say that he's happy living his unusual life but he doesn't look or sound very happy at all.
If he does have a reasonably sized portfolio, he could sell a portion and use the money to go traveling. He'd adapt to the cheap hostel life quite easily and enjoy the low cost of living.
Travel broadens the mind as they say and he's in need of that.
With his academic background he could easily get a job teaching English, which would pay more than he's earning now from poker, look better on his resume for the future and along with even cheaper living costs allow him to save more.
There is the chance he could fall into the lazy forever expat trap, working the minimum hours required to support his lifestyle and never progressing in life. He'd certainly be vulnerable to that.
Laziness and being mentally weak seem like two of his biggest obstacles to overcome in life. It seems like a gamble worth taking though.
Why would your goal be to stack a super nit? Only way you'll do that is through a cooler where it's fine for him to stack off. What would that prove? You are basically giving him ev.
ok my goal is to bluff him hard and then force a stackoff.
i was half joking.. dude has sat at my table three times and he was gone within 2 orbits
Resume. Ha!

Ummm, he's already there and then some.
Judging by the thumbnail, it seems like the latest Rice video is gonna be fun as he is running bad and "hates poker".

Yep. Proceeds to list off all the strong hands, over pairs and cooler hands he's had since he's been back in Vegas the past 48 hours played.
Luckily he's a super nit and only down less than two buy ins lol. People swing two buy ins within a session normally. Diesel thinks swinging two buy ins over a playing week is noteworthy enough for a vlog. What a #pokerlife

Yeah, also lol at him crying over this socalled "downswing" when its not even close to what is normal in live cashgames.
I play mostly PLO or half/half games in recent years, and i am in for 5 buyins literally all the time. Often lots of action, multiple straddles++. Even in NL games its easy to be stuck 3-4 buyins if you run into some unavoidable coolers and/or is running bad.
Diesel is so afraid of swings that he probably doesent even comprehend what a real downswing is in livepoker. If the doomswitch is on, you can easily go on a 4K downswing at 1/3,even in socalled tight Vegas games. Rice is having a mental breakdown on camera if he loses 1 buyin, go figure.
And of course its also more difficult if you are an ubernit such as Rice to go on losing streaks, because they know how long it will take them to grind all that money back while strictly nudpeddling and praying you get paid off something when you finally bink the nutz couple of times. Players who have a more aggressive "take all the +EV spots" kind of game, doesnt feel the same way-at least i dont. If i get stuck like 10 buyins or whatever or go on a 12-15 buyin downswing, i know that it only takes one good game for me to get that back. Or 2-3 games where i run decent and hold in some big pots then its all back.

I don't think anyone thinks Diesel is not overrolled for 1-3 so there is no reason not to play higher variance poker. In $300 max buy in Vegas games, it'd be really hard to be on a more than $3000 downswing.
Does Diesel understand that by playing a lower variance style, you also lower your possible win rate?
I'm gonna let ya in on a secret. It's ok to get stacked for 100 bb's at 1-3 NL. It's not the end of the world. You can recover. Here's another secret. A more aggressive take all the +EV spots style of play can actually lower your variance cause for one, you will be in more hands and two, your overall win rate will be higher. Higher the win rate, the higher the floor of your standard deviation will be.
And yes the tragic part of being an ubernit is finally getting good hands and winning the minimum cause you get no action cause you're obviously an ubernit or you go up against short stacks and win $50 as he has done during this latest bad run.

I would bet my money on the fact that Diesel does not have any clue about the lower variance nitty nutpeddling style= lower winrate and thus for example alot harder to grind out of downswings.
The only thing that matters imo for players like Diesel, is to possibly avoid the pain they feel when getting stacked in the moment.
I would bet that he prefers to be up 300 bucks, instead of first losing 3 buyins and then finish up 600 bucks. The pain of getting stacked or being in the game for multiple buyins is too overwhelming.
If you're playing in **** games where people are sitting and not reloading with only $50 in front of them, yea you are only winning that when you stack them. lol
I would love to see a challenge of Diesel playing 2 to 4 tables online for 10k hands+, he would blow a gasket with the bad beats and coolers he would see in that many hands.

But Diesel can't lose more than $50 if that's what the effective stack is from most of the table as well. This is what is more important to him. He would have to get 12 consecutive bad beats from short stackers to be stuck two buy ins. This is why in his yearly wrap ups, he has so little losing sessions of greater than two buy ins. I think he mentioned about only losing four figures once.

I mean, just imagine the impact these short stacks+rake has on the achieveable winrates. From what i understand lots of Vegas casinos has raised the rake recently too. You are basically drawing dead if lets say 3 out of 8 players is sitting on lol 50 bucks. The ceiling of attainable winrate under such conditions has to be absurdly low.
The more i think about every aspect regarding Diesels situation, its gonna be very interesting to see how long he can keep this "pokerlife" thing going. Rake, small winrate and expences no matter how small they are will eat him up slowly but surely.

It's just Caesars properties poker rooms that raised their rake to $6. Horseshoe is $6+$2 now.
Good thing Diesel makes more than he needs and avoids buying stuff affected by inflation.
