Vanlife in Vegas
Are there good places to safely overnight stealth park and live in a Van while in Vegas?
Which Casinos have good parking lots that can accommodate big travel vans, and allow easy overnight parking without hassles?
Most parking garages are too short for the tall camper vans... need outdoor parking. And I don't want to park anywhere where I might get a knock on my door at 2am with casino security.
Any good RV parks in the Vegas area?
Other suggestions on how to live out of a Van while in Vegas are much appreciated. Anyone want to rent out their driveway?
Thanks...

this is the area off hwy159/blue diamond/charleston right by red rock casino where van lifers park on a daily basis. its right by the catch basin/flood control area right past the High school.
Are you still seeing vans parking overnight in this area?
I'm making my way down to Vegas now, just crossed into Arizona.
Doing some research online and looking for spots on iOverlander, it seems like overnight parking could be tricky in Vegas.
Not seeing many places where I'm guaranteed a hassle free night. Anything near a casino and it looks like there's at least a 50% chance security will tell me to move along.
I'm looking to stay for a week, maybe more if the live games are good and it's not too difficult to find free overnight parking.
Not opposed to staying in hotels for part of my trip if I can get a good deal on something nice, but don't want to be overpaying for some crappy motels.
It's going to be my first time in Vegas. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.
they have started to clear them out regularly... sometimes there are many parked there, sometimes they are all gone or parked further up the road.
it may have been that it started to get to be a really crowded spot... many of them looked legit homeless, the rest were Mercedes type travel vans... so it was a mix. I say, just check it out.
you will be able to see if anyone else is there... just dont be the only one parked at that spot overlooking the reservoir/catch basin... Red Rock Detention Basin on that first map.
I am not in a spot where I can go drive by right now to see if anyone is there.
you used to be able to use Circus Circus, but they are enforcing over night parking there now... probably because of homelessness. I do know that there is a 'Camping' area right next to circus circus off of Industrial ave... not sure if you need advanced reservations.
RV park at Circus Circus
That RV park looks great -- at least the prices do. I wish I lived w/in driving distance.

You're not going to fit in most casino parking garages. They have 7 foot clearance.

Do they? Looks like it's about $50/night. I've seen hotels near Freemont street for less than that

My camper is much nicer than a cheap hotel on Freemont Street 😉
Regardless, this a van thread, not a hotel thread.
I think Las Vegas is FULL of random areas where you can pull over for a night or two and never get bothered.

Haha I'm really comfortable in my van as well, but I'm used to staying everywhere for free. Haven't paid anywhere I've been in the past 3 weeks.

Well I'm about to find out, just arrived. Got the first 2 nights planned out, after that it could get tricky
you're gonna be alright. there is a lot of undeveloped areas where you can park.

I am 100$ unsure of the laws, but I think there are plenty of roads in Vegas that are not only open for parking, but are advertised somewhere in the world.
The only reason I know this is that I regularly see trucks/cars/vans etc. parked along the side of the road, almost abandoned.

Sorry, I forgot to include the road.
Lone Mountain.
It is far to the north of the strip, but I never see anyone getting hassled.
Lone mountain is WAY out there... there is all kinds of stuff in the southwest, off blue diamond.
Best free no height restriction parking spots near the strip? (Not overnight)
Parked beside OYO last night, but it's good to have more spots. Especially for this weekend.
Checked Tropicana first but it's paid event parking there now.
Orleans... Rio... Palms... all have outdoor parking.
I believe in most strip casinos the top floor of the parking garage has no roof. Some may to tough to get to in a large van though.
Tropicana used to have an outdoor lot, but I haven't been there recently.
Caught a crackhead peaking though my passenger window. Reminder to hide all valuables when I'm away from the van
Lone Mountain is north of Craig? What cross streets of Lone Mountain are you referring to? Also why not stay at the truck stop on Craig and I-15?
Yes, Lone Mountain is just north of Craig. Between Decatur (to the east) and Rancho or even Rainbow (to the west) I always see semi trucks, RVs, and other vehicles parked on the side of the road. There is a huge parking lane off to the side of the road in both directions. This area is lined with many gated communities meaning there are walls on both sides of the street turning this area into a sort of canyon. It is clear these are not locals.
Park on BLM land...
There used to be a big open lot near the High Roller. Still there?
What flood are you referring to?
so all BLM land is low lying dry washes and dusty dry lake beds?
come on now.
Most of las vegas is Caliche soil... which is why water runs off. this means if you hang out in low lying areas or dry river depressions, you can get caught out... but I think we are all adults here and adults probably realize this.
There is a LOT of BLM land here in vegas, and it's always an option for 'illegal' camping.
