58 watch....

58 watch....

i loe the SE forum's no-hitter watch thread...

thought it would be good for the golf forum to have 59 watch.... so many low scores these days...

last few weeks we've had gainey, fowler (28 on front), van pelt and watney have decent go's at it

birdie-birdie needed for 59

amazing that it's at pebble ... "ball up" though

so he hit on 17.. short ish putt and birdie par 5 for 59

2 putts 18 for 60. Left putts inches short on the last three holes!

his single bogey, on a par 3, was a thing of beauty
didn't touch the green until his fourth stroke

a guy on Korn Ferry just missed a six-footer on the 18th hole

that putt was to shoot 56

honestly, i had to check today's date

And parred the last three holes.

Course is 62xx yards at 8000 feet which makes it play 5500 or so. A 57 is a 57 and that's amazing, but it's not something I'm making too big of a deal out of.

fair point, but you have the course length wrong. the course is 7,237 yards long

two courses in play like at the ATT
the Pacos course (PC) is 6,252 par 70
the top 11 players shot 62 or better, all on the PC course

Why would the KFT be playing on such a Mickey Mouse course like that anyway? Maybe if it was PGA Tour Latinoamérica, I could see it.

#togrowthegame

got us talking about it

i think i had seen that last year that there were 2 different courses - one quite short, and both at altitude.... and then forgotten.

i will say it was a little tricky getting the one course's yardage. while it seemed easier to get the longer course's yardage.

a few 61's were the 2nd best scores.

This is the first anticipatory post ever I think..

If I'm reading everything properly, korn ferry is playing par 72, 6200 yard course in (high altitude) Bogota, Columbia tomorrow...

Also playing 7200 yard course (2 courses thurs-fri) so maybe it's just misprint

Wonder if they played there last year

Love this anticipatory post that was exactly one year to the day before dude shot 57 on this exact track.

yep...rivercity nailed it

Yep. Especially after another 59 in round 2 by 19-year old Aldrich Potgieter.

American Frankie Capan III opens w a 58 today at the KF event

says 7,000 yards.....

Texas Rangers club....... is that the police or the baseball team? .........

scores aren't really low, although they are pretty low. might be a 62 and 64 or two when the day is done. (i assume no one goes really low in the afternoon)

Texas Rangers Club is affiliated with the baseball team and opened in 2019 after going thru a multi-million dollar renovation. Beforehand it was Chester A. Ditto municipal golf club. It was, as we say in Texas, a goat ranch.

With that said, my buddies and I played it countless times.

First off, it was cheap. During the week it was ~$20 with cart. ~$30ish on the weekends.

Secondly, they didn't have a beer/liquor license, so it was BYOB.

Thirdly, they didn't have marshals. So if you got behind a slow group, which happened often because the level of play for most golfers that played there was horrendous, we would just cut across to an open hole and play until we caught another slow group and go back and play the holes we skipped earlier. Rinse and repeat as necessary.

Fourthly, you could play as much as you wanted with just the initial green/cart fee. Playing 27-36 holes was the norm.

I was a 7 handicap back then. If I didn't shoot close to par, it was a bad day. However, I never used any scores for my handicap from there as it was a very short course and they basically just watered the tee boxes and greens. So whether we were in the fairway or the rough, we rolled the ball to the nearest patch of grass.

Super fun times there for what it was.

Cameron Young... Minus 1 last 2 holes would be 59... On golf channel right now Saturday 1 pm eastern time

Boom 59

Birdie 17... Scramble par on 18

that putt on 18 was a knee-knocker

That would have been gross if he had bogied 18, it really looked like he was going to do that.

Hayden Springer on the 18th with about a 10 footer for 59 at the John Deere right now. Never heard of the guy but he shot a 27 on the front which is nuts.
