We're back for another year, but with an added option.
In addition to the usual pools...
$10 - 125/250/125/500(final score)
$25 - 300/650/300/1250(final score)
$50 - 625/1250/625/2500(final score)
I'm also adding a $250 board that pays at every score change. Here's how that's going to work - every time points go on the board, somebody wins. If a field goal is the first score, whoever has 3-0 wins. If the next score is a touchdown by the other team, 3-6 wins. When the extra point gets kicked, 3-7 wins. Easy enough? Good. The end of quarters or halftime don't matter in this pool. Final score does. Whoever has the final score right will be the big winner. Instead of having one set amount for each score change, or a set amount for the final score winner, and risking a high or low scoring game taking away from the spirit of this pool, I'm going with a sliding scale.
# of score changes
1-5 = 3k per change
6-8 = 2k
9-12 = 1.5k
13-25 = 1k
25+ = everything split evenly
Here it is broken all the way down
Score changes - Amount per score change / Amount to final winner(in addition to the money from the final score change)
1 = 3k per change / 22k to the final
2 = 3k / 19k
3 = 3k / 16k
4 = 3k / 13k
5 = 3k / 10k
6 = 2k / 13k
7 = 2k / 11k
8 = 2k / 9k
9 = 1.5k / 11.5k
10 = 1.5k / 10k
11 = 1.5k / 8.5k
12 = 1.5k / 7k
13 = 1k / 12k
14 = 1k / 11k
15 = 1k / 10k
16 = 1k / 9k
17 = 1k / 8k
18 = 1k / 7k
19 = 1k / 6k
20 = 1k / 5k
21 = 1k / 4k
22 = 1k / 3k
23 = 1k / 2k
24 = 1k / 1k
25 = 1k
Last year there were 21 score changes I believe, and that was the most in at least 12-15 years. One recent year(2018?) there were only 5, but that was the only one with less than 10. The average has been around 14-15 so that's how I came up with this pay scale.
I'm sure there will be questions, so ask away.
Good luck all! ec, have a great trip!
I'm pretty sure someone put my name into Tom's squares. Honest mistake I'm sure, let me know when it's remedied please. Thanks.
LOL
I saw the comment previously, but apparently the image didn't load at the time. That's sort of how I felt it was going until I saw ...

That is brutal--especially if that is your entire stable. That 0-6 is a shining star in that group!
Somewhat surprisingly we don't have any common combinations, but at least this promises to be a high scoring game where we'll have a shot at something weird hitting. We could use some unconventional coaching though. Where's Dan Campbell when you need him?
Would you like me to ask my colonoscopy guy if he'd be willing to work some sort of BOGO deal for tomorrow?

That's all of my "normal" squares, 25/50s. 125s are a little better, I think, lol.
I think I'm good for a few years on the 'scope. Although I guess you can never have too many...

Those are better, but I would guess mostly due to the structure of the payouts.
On the other subject I've already had too many iyam. A buddy of mine was on an annual schedule for a while, butt he didn't seem to mind it nearly as much as I would have. Poor guy died a few years back, allegedly due to unrelated causes although I have my doubts about that.
I've got some good numbers:
SF 0. 6
KC 0. 7
Please correct if I'm wrong, but the way I see it is if the first score is a field goal WINNER.
Then when they score a TD and extra point (to make it 10-0). WINNER
or
If KC goes up 7-0 and SF scores WINNER
I'm lovin' life!!!

I'm not sure if anyone else is capable of interpreting this post.
to be first with an opinion is a blight of biblical proportion cast upon the human race
most people who click do not stick around for fact checking
markf'nw guaranteed a hit.
ec, great job, heroic effort yet again, ship this man some tips on these squares, men.
Thanks for running squares again this year EC_O. I know it's a lot more work behind the scenes than it looks like.
If any of you are looking for last minute squares I'm running my yearly $50 board and $100 board in the sports betting thread here:
https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/40/sp...
If you aren't a reg in that thread or don't have a vouch then you may be asked to escrow.
$50 board: 47/100 remaining
$100 board: 24/100 remaining
LuckyBacon is also running a $250 board in that thread with 20/100 remaining
Happy Squares Day to those of you who observe it.
I introduced SB squares to my kid and comped him 5 squares on the $10 board.
When he sees the checklist I am using during the game, he might get the impression that I have a problem.
glgl degens!
