Also regarding these “utg has sets” comments, on what planet does UTG decide he’s going to try and blast the PFR out of the pot with the nuts on ragragrag rainbow?

Reads on this player donking 2x pot? Is he tilted and ready for re-entry?

The frequent limper, is he a loose fish going bananas with toppair or only playing aces?

That being said, 2x pot shove then basically allin from limper sounds like an easy fold live mtt!

The pot on the flop is 5500, not 10k. I guess the poster who thought it was 10k didn’t realize it was BB ante.

Yeah I don't think UTG is ever bluffing, but as splashy as he is he could have a lot of 8x.The fact that even if the SB is strong we still end up better off if we beat UTG for the side pot but lose to the SB than we would be if we fold, inclines me more to call as well. Also I agree on going a little bigger preflop. 3.5x at the absolute minimum but against a loose/splashy player

UTG can absolutely be semi-bluffing with high-equity draws like 75/54/97, trying to iso the SB and just running it as the big stack with outs. It's not even like UTG has to be doing that very often for us to just be printing here. If you don't think this happens at this stake level with these splashy limper types, you don't play this stake level enough.

Sure, and he can have J4 also.

Seriously, why would you want to raise a 2x pot size bet with a hand with 8 outs? Maybe they can/should do it with 97s and a back door flush, that hand has about the right odds against one pair, assuming the 9 is live.

My experience at this level is that these splashy limper type are much more likely to just flat if they flopped one of these draws. They played passively preflop, and are now getting aggressive post; this isn't how draws get played by these players. Of course, our experiences can both be correct...

Results? It's been a while and this thread has gone dormant, but since this is such a strange spot, I'd like to see what these guys had...

So UTG who made it 30k had 89 for top pair on the flop. Small blind ended up having 56.

JJ way ahead.

Had to take UTG off QQ-AA because he didn't 3 bet. If he has a set, God bless him, tip your cap, knock the table and say "gg".
