OOT Super Bowl Squares 2024

We're back for another year, but with an added option.

In addition to the usual pools...
$10 - 125/250/125/500(final score)
$25 - 300/650/300/1250(final score)
$50 - 625/1250/625/2500(final score)

I'm also adding a $250 board that pays at every score change. Here's how that's going to work - every time points go on the board, somebody wins. If a field goal is the first score, whoever has 3-0 wins. If the next score is a touchdown by the other team, 3-6 wins. When the extra point gets kicked, 3-7 wins. Easy enough? Good. The end of quarters or halftime don't matter in this pool. Final score does. Whoever has the final score right will be the big winner. Instead of having one set amount for each score change, or a set amount for the final score winner, and risking a high or low scoring game taking away from the spirit of this pool, I'm going with a sliding scale.

# of score changes
1-5 = 3k per change
6-8 = 2k
9-12 = 1.5k
13-25 = 1k
25+ = everything split evenly

Here it is broken all the way down
Score changes - Amount per score change / Amount to final winner(in addition to the money from the final score change)
1 = 3k per change / 22k to the final
2 = 3k / 19k
3 = 3k / 16k
4 = 3k / 13k
5 = 3k / 10k
6 = 2k / 13k
7 = 2k / 11k
8 = 2k / 9k
9 = 1.5k / 11.5k
10 = 1.5k / 10k
11 = 1.5k / 8.5k
12 = 1.5k / 7k
13 = 1k / 12k
14 = 1k / 11k
15 = 1k / 10k
16 = 1k / 9k
17 = 1k / 8k
18 = 1k / 7k
19 = 1k / 6k
20 = 1k / 5k
21 = 1k / 4k
22 = 1k / 3k
23 = 1k / 2k
24 = 1k / 1k
25 = 1k

Last year there were 21 score changes I believe, and that was the most in at least 12-15 years. One recent year(2018?) there were only 5, but that was the only one with less than 10. The average has been around 14-15 so that's how I came up with this pay scale.

I'm sure there will be questions, so ask away.

TD for $2500. LFG.

I wrote that 5,2 square off for dead HOURS AGO!

Congrats to both of us, brother!!

I hope it's understood I won't be dealing with payouts till tomorrow or Tuesday. Squares are dumb.

Ended up being a great sweet. Keeping track of 6+ boards of my own was tough!
Thanks for running ec!

Game - good
Squares - suck

First half sucked. Especially since the Chiefs couldn't score a TD to end the half.

Well that sucked, but I _think_ I finished slightly above +EVENS, so hopefully I make it to the next set of squares

Congratulations to all the winners. When the score became final, I figured for sure Tom got a win, since there was a five involved.

SF wasn't able to take advantage of early offense (fumble, penalties), and missing that XP was crushing (though we can't say if KC gets a TD instead of the tying FG near the end).

Still, would snap accept an Anders Carlson for Moody trade.

The Bud Light genie ad was kind of fun. Other than that, don't remember anything particularly interesting, and really disliked the couch potato ad.

My favorite commercial was Arnold saying naybah.

I checked all the 5/2s thinking the same thing, SURELY Tom got something. Nope. Sucks.

Honorable mentions for Christopher Walken and Mayo Cat.

You guys must have missed the final paragraph of this post. I'm sure ROG's administrative assistant must have kept my memo from reaching ROG's desk. That poor SOB will be without a job later today!

It's true. I'm a broken man.

Sorry, folks. This looks like a wrap. The order of names checks out.

I'm so stunned and grateful for the absence of 5s that I'm speechless. I'd like to thank everyone who made this night possible. And special thanks to ec for running all these aggravating exercises once again!

BTW, 3-3 is one of the possible ties that I didn't already have. I now have 0-0, 1-1 (twice), 2-2, 3-3, and 5-5. No OT! No OT! No OT!

The double ought was the only square I binked at all. In the first quarter of the smallest denom board I entered. I did have 5-2 on the $50 board but needed a 2-5. Figures.

Mahomes let me down big time in the first three quarters. There were a few drives where he could have pulled me out of the fire but that lazy bum kept procrastinating.

Mahomie is a Texas boy. Can't blame him for not really putting out for someone who constantly talks **** about the Cowboys like some do.

Hey, now, let's be fair!

Dak was there in person!

Don't cry to me when Mahomie "does you wrong" again next year. I warned you.

I think that was factored in. General Manager Jones hires only the best and he pays quite well!

No sweat. I'm sure there will be a new Cowboys meme making the rounds by then. But those same 40 guys will be sitting in front of their OLED screens again.

That's because he knows that's the only way he's ever going to be at a Super Bowl.

I wasn't paying attention, so may have misunderstood. In the pregame, thought I heard Romo saying something about how players were preparing or feeling or some such.

I thought, HTF do you know?

I will admit to liking him as an announcer, though I don't watch much.

At the beginning of the game he went into great detail about the feelings that were coursing through Purdy. I had the same thought: How in the hell does Romo know?

OTOH Romo could be considered an expert on how it feels to take off to Cabo with your TE and your girlfriends during the bye week instead of using that time to increase your chances of actually getting to the SB.
