Line Check with AQo in SB: Raise, Call, or Fold

Fold pre-flop. 7.5x is a huge raise size and he should be opening a very strong range UTG.

I'm never flatting pre (never say never I know, unless there was some kind of dynamic between me and the raiser of course) I'm either 3betting for folding pre. If I don't know the villain and don't feel comfortable 3betting I prefer to fold rather than call but that's just me. I also prefer to be at least 150 bb's deep, so we have room to maneuver post flop vs sticky villains and not have them stack committed if they call a cbet.

Pre depends on who UTG is -- it's 3bet or fold. ($15 is not out of line in my 1/2 game.)

Depends on how normal 15 is as a raise, for me. When I play 1/2/3 or 1/2/2, 15 is the standard opening size. (These strange blind structures are all we have around here for some reason lol)

In a lot of places chips are $5 and so people will not bother to open to 4 or 6 or 8 as you might expect in an online game and just go straight to 10 as default, imo.

Regarding the size of the raise, I mostly included that comment as a reason to never cold call in this spot. I don’t think it’s profitable to cold call with almost any hands facing such a large raise, especially given the high rake in this game.

If Villain is playing pre-flop by the book, he should not be opening AJo and KQo from UTG, and especially not for 7.5x. Once you take out all those offsuit combos of hands that we are dominating, Villain’s lead in equity should increase quite a bit.

It’s hard to range V without any reads. Some players at 1/2 might open KJo from UTG whereas others might limp/call AKs.

People at 1/2 rarely 4bet, and almost never w/ worse than AQo, so yes, I'd fold. But again, need to know more about V.

AQo is junk vs his 4bet range. If we had 66/77/88/99 then yes that would def. be a shame to have to throw it away (I see reg/pro's do it all the time).

I also hate flatting pre in the SB. Does anyone have a flatting range here? I would flat middle PPs in this spot, say 77-99. Curious if this is a leak, and if so how bad?

What actually is the flop?

If 15 is normal for villain and they are fairly wide, then I would 3bet to 75. Going to cbet basically all k high flops for relatively small size at this depth.

If villain is unknown and 15 is a lot for the table then folding is probably best. I don't like flatting our hand from the SB.

To me it depends on the other players, of course, but there are definitely situations in which I would do this.

I might actually make it 90 pre, and check-jam flop if we have top pair or better, otherwise check-fold.
