The site security scandals are almost good for poker celebrities because every time one happens, some washed up name gets to sell out and pretend they're going to be heading up a new security revamp.

Btw Limon, you're not always my favorite TV channel but I do want to apologize for talking about you in a thread that you literally couldn't respond in. That felt particularly lame, so sorry, welcome back, and good luck with the thread.

What do you call upper middle class? 6 figures/year? I couldnt count on my fingers the number of people I know who make that grinding midstakes. I know even more people who make less but only due to lack of volume. As for card counting, yeah totally dead. But aren't there other ways to AP blackjack that are more difficult but offer viable incomes to those willing to put in the e

I know considerably a considerably larger number than that, but then that is because of the company I keep.

(Essentially all of the serious card-counters I knew switched from blackjack to poker because it was easy to win money, even serious money, without having to cope with heat from the casino.)

card counting/ap and sports betting basically have a hard cap because the casinos come down on you hard once they know you are winning. poker has no such cap, but is beginning to grow one as higher stakes games become less public/inviting to big winners every day.

I was also in that thread and made derogatory comments about you. I don't remember all of my comments because I was on a bender but they weren't pleasant remarks. I have forgiven myself.

WOW 200,000 VIEWS! LETS KEEP IT GOING!!!

In honor of this milestone Ill offer a free tip: the fed has announced they are lowering rates. the fed does what it says its going to do 100% of the time barring some major unforeseen financial interruption. the reason is because keeping their promises is important for market stability. if you have ever thought about holding medium and long term treasury bond funds there has been no better time in the last 17 years based on the current evidence available. You will get high yields and increase in the underlying asset. Hold these funds until the fed announces they will raise rates (after the next recession).

risks: bond weakness do to lower foreign demand (no evidence of this), massive respike in inflation (no evidence of this), AI efficiencies overheating the economy (no evidence of this). None of this is happening now but watch it closely!

Thanks for the tip - would you consider VGLT a wise choice? I mostly buy index funds and don't trade much. Also I've heard sentiment that keeping bonds in brokerage accounts is bad because the tax hits are worse - but I suppose you could make that argument about holding lots of stuff in a brokerage account.

Waht!!! This forum was supposed to be bot moderated. I could have won a $1 bet!!!!!

The bot is set to look for potentially profane or insulting posts. It can't currently judge if a line of posts are off topic or derailing.

Still a few days left of human moderation. 😀

What tips do you have for living a healthy lifestyle as a gambler?

vglt is fine. everything in the brokerage account is hit with taxes so things you dont trade much if at all are best for that. things youre gonna trade a lot (like crypto through greyscale. mstr, or etf) try to do in a retirement account if you can.

never gamble and make a point of never gambling (including soft gambling like playing on a stake, selling pieces or swapping to play bigger than your roll) .
be like the rake. or better yet, be the actual rake.
play a lot when you feel like playing and dont play at all when you dont.
have several interests which you enjoy as much as poker/advantage play
never date a poker player/gambler.
do anything you want any time you want IN MODERATION
save for a rainy day.

can you elaborate on the never date a poker player/gambler

I just cleaned up a handful of posts (10) derailing about online poker. Poster seemed good with letting the subject drop after I asked him to, but then someone replied to one of his posts and it started back up again veering into the online poker is rigged realm, so I just deleted the whole thing.

in my 25 years ive seen dozens of female "poker pros"/high volume regs or whatever come to the casino. the dude "poker pros" or whatever flock to them and female poker players always end up dating a string of male poker players (the men always play higher stakes than them nearly 100% of the time which is interesting). these relationships work out and are lasting near 0% of the time AFAICT. two people on strange hours in high stress "jobs" where money is everything and gambling addiction is common inside a casino atmosphere where one or both often are borderline scam artists is just a disaster.

For what it's worth, my downstairs tenants are a married couple with a ten-year-old kid. The parents met through poker. He's a software engineer and she's a lawyer. They paid her way through law school by heavy duty advantage play and poker -- she was the last woman standing in the WSOP main event one year.

They are not pros, although they both have been; she still does substantial advantage play in California and Nevada casinos on weekends.

My partner and I had breakfast with her yesterday morning (in the coffee shop at Harrah's Lake Tahoe).

What do you think about the Rampages and Marianos and the Jonny Vibes of the world? Some on here and reddit treat them like they were a part of Epstein island or worse for raking app games.

What's your take on this?

I have no problem with it, if you played on any of those sites youre probably an idiot. if laws were broken by these people to run these sites i assume they wont cry when the feds come. many were running bookmaking operations as well, same shyt
