I guess the only huge surprise about this story is that I was under the impression he had become a fully off-the-grid weirdo in his retirement.

Yeah, Virgil's been public with his cancer battle, seemed to be broke and struggling to be able to pay for proper care. One of the sadder examples of one of these characters who decorated my childhood and had the industry coldly spit them out with nothing to really show for their time.

Always thought Kamala was one of the worst examples of this phenomenon. Ends up broke while losing two of his limbs to diabetes and back in poor, rural MS where he began. A guy the company could have helped for minimal investment, but WWE of course never lifted a finger.

Same. Unfortunately I doubt there’s a realistic way for him to live a financially busto life before he meets his end though. More than anything I’d like him to have to live in that reality.
Wasn’t Vince pretty much about the busto life until he started working for his father?
I don’t think he was always rich, but I’m not under the impression he lived the life of an old wrestler spit out of the industry with chronic health issues and no ability to properly treat them.
I thought the story was that he lived in a trailer with his mother, who banged everything in site, and that some of these guys used to beat the **** outta Vince.

Seems odd to induct them as a team, rather than individually. I don't even think they were together that long. It likely has to do with wanting to put the whole family in at once if they're inducting Bray, but not have them take up too many spots this year. Those guys should each go in individually. But then again, it's not a legit HOF, so what does it matter,?

Just watched The Dark Side about Ed Leslie/Brutus Beefcake. The thing that's surprising to me is that today you wouldn't even know that he'd had his face brutally smashed in in that boating accident. From the way they described that reconstruction surgery, that must be one hella talented surgeon.
