at one car show he took a mercedes and dressed it up as a tesla he said he produced. he was offering it as proof that he was producing electric cars so he could get govt grants.
he said he could build a hyperloop. one possible motive for such a lie was to block funding for high speed rail.
he also said he would put people on mars in 2024(iirc)
in 2016 he said tesla autonomous driving was safer than human driving

You are seeing this right now to varying degrees from every car company. It's just that Tesla crushes it's competition. It makes a better product.
those robot taxis in sf are a nightmare. they are constantly ****ing up and blocking traffic causing major delays.
outside of those, i don't think i've noticed autonomous driving. like every car i've seen is being actively driven by a human
Elon Musk completely lost it for me when he started propping neo nazis and alt-right disinformation. And like, in general, we probably shouldn't worship hypocrites. Hell, my ultra-progressive Jewish partner supported him until he started going full alt-right and started platforming nazis. I will admit that it is fun playing around with Tesla and the tech features are pretty good (outside the autonomous stuff, which even some devs on the project have said they would never personally operate in public traffic). More impressed with some of Kia's offerings these days tho.
