The Box of Chocolates Thread (You never know what you're going to get!)
Welcome to the General Discussion thread. If you have a topic that doesn't warrant its own thread, post it here. Have a free form discussion going that no longer fits in the original thread? It may be moved here to give it a place to wander. Also, general chit chat is welcome!
That's not an explanation of what is and when it should be used instead of the simple past tense. That's more like me asking "what's the difference between the red pill and the blue pill?" and you answering "one is red and one is blue".
I misspell/bad autocorrect things all the time because all of my posts on 2p2are me typing on my phone, often in a public or public-ish setting.
If you guys want to learn about real totalitarian ism, you should read1983.
Since I had to look it up before I could get another night's sleep, for anyone who is interested, this page contains everything one might ever need to know about the various past tenses in English:

Right. It's also quite easy to tell that this is the case, not least because you have demonstrated that you actually know how to write properly at least once. The same cannot be said of all posters.

I stayed in Guatemala for about a month but then got a flight to Colombia so I'm there now a few hours south of Medellin. No news on the girl. Spent my last week and 1/2 or so in Guatemala in a Pacific Ocean beach town called El Paredón and now I'm in the mountains.
Oh cool.
Did the Lake get boring?
yea no news on the girl i can find now.
glad you survived
I was travelling with a friend from the US so we had an agenda of places to go, but I think if I go back to Guatemala it wouldn't be a top spot on my list of places to return to. It's beautiful there for sure though. I also got food poisoning twice in three days while there. Next time I go to central America it'll likely be to El Salvador.

The first time I had chicken shawarma at some Mediterranean restaurant and the next time I think it was from eating some street chorizo, because both me and my friend had pizza later and she was fine. Met an Australian guy in Antigua and he also had food poisoning at the lake so it's a thing there.
El Salvador is safer than Canada. Safest country in the Americas.
