Tom Dwan - the missing man

Tom Dwan - the missing man

How convenient is it that he just falls off the face of the earth after issuing and bailing half way through a 50k hand challenge when he goes down over a million dollars?

He come out a year or so ago and said that he has this "big" problem with FTP that he would address once he had a decent nights sleep, what ever happened here?

He agreed to pay penalties on a monthly basis for not playing an agreed amount of hands with jungle, did cates ever receive any of the penalty money? I think it's about time the community got some answers. There was a lot of money placed on the outcome of the match which never got resolved, as you can imagine anyone who took jungle's side must be pretty aggrieved.

Ike and Justin bonomo was both judges along with Ivey being escrow, from what I remember Ivey wanted nothing to do with any of the decision making after dwan went AWOL which lead to phil sending jungle his 500k back. What's the point of having judges in any bet if they can't actually enforce any rulings?

If anyone else had bailed on a bet of this size when he should have escrowed the 1.5million it would be a much bigger deal.

To add to that he's listed to play in the 500k super high roller at the aria

you doubt someone who is broke sold action to a 1mm buy-in game?

He could be backed.. Maybe you are right. His vibe on the show was that he had just one bullet and seemed a bit cautious before he started winning big. Maybe that's why in my head I leaned more towards 100% of himself. But who knows, maybe the reason the didn't make the show the day earlier and it got cancelled was because he was having trouble getting the 1M together through multiple backers.

lol reading comprehension.
7 figures is not 7 mil.

I understand that, thought I saw or heard that it was over 7M that was in the account Haralabos won using Dwan, Could be wrong though.

Given everything people have alluded to who have played with Tom, I don't think he has had 100% of himself in anything in a long time.

This seems like a reasonable estimate if Voulgaris is to be believed. From the twitter thread a few posts ago, he stated they won (was owed through Tom less a 25% freeroll) "high 7 figures".

by ALLNITSGOBROKE k

he's had a hard on for Dwan for years stemming from jealousy

hmmm, let's see...

Polk
- successful poker player at the highest stakes for over a decade
- owner/shareholder of several multi-million dollar businesses
- hundreds of thousands of YouTube subscribers
- is alsmost always right with his takes on poker realted stuff
- calls out people who deserve to be called out
- very funny troll
- nice house, wife, father of a child - life's good

vs

Dwan
- heavily overrated by clueless public due to his upswing on HSP
- played HS online only due to the fact that he was backed by a ponzi scheme company
- owes millions to people all around the world
- dubios contacts to people and scammers from the demimonde, like Paul Phua
- looks like Gollum
- gambling addict
- hasn't selpt through a night in the last 10 years

uhm, yeah... the jealousy man, the jealousy....

Dwan played high-stakes before he was a pro.

Polk is not funny... Every sentence he says sounds like he is boring himself to death...

by Hellmuth was right k

but he's basically lived the past 20 years of his life inside of casinos playing the highest stakes games in the world where lending 6+ figures happens all the time, there's a good chance he is owed just as much as he owes.

and Doug Polk is still a leach who brings no value.

This.

Also, this thread sucks. I doubt most of the posters in this thread have spotted mates even for a $5/$10 game, all this conjecture and the conspiracy theories makes for pretty entertaining but ridiculous reading.

Doug is basically a clickbait internet tabloid used to drive web traffic.

Where can i find this podcast?

Polk calls out whoever will stir up the most drama and attention.

There's a lot of cases where he's come out looking pretty pathetic i.e. Jnandez

As for him being funny, Rob Yong put him in his place about how most of his humour relies on the editing/writing of his videos and that in person he doesn't have much banter.

Is this Doug Polk writing himself? xD

Bob said that the 350k left was the remaining ~5% of the total debt.

Lol @ boring nit Rob Yong calling anyone out for lacking humour.

ACR have just put him into the Triton $25k

LOL what he's an ACR pro now?

by Daveshoelace k

Full Tilt: Play with the Pros
ACR: Borrow money from the Pros

that makes no sense. correction - ACR: Lend money to the Pros.

who the F is Barry Carter ? never heard of him and by the looks of his tweets he seems like an attention wh0r3

Doesn't make him wrong. Polk isn't funny.

He's also not jealous of Dwan as he's obviously more successful and in a much better place in life.

MTT guy. I think he was the one staking Poker Bunny. That could have been his partner, though. Forgot.

So Haralobob was running some betting scam using TD to place bets and then TD scammed him? What the problem is? You play in dirt, you get dirty.

Maybe he was too lit off the addys to be in public and held up in a suite with some IG baddies

How is Haralabob asking Dwan to place bets a scam?

He was basically offering him free money, what a weird take.

Why did he not place the bets himself?

by Puppy Water k

Why did he not place the bets himself?

the betting site disallowed him from placing bets due to him being deemed a sharp/winning bettor.

I personally found it amusing the time Doug Polk claimed that Ben86 was a psychopath. Because idk, Ben86 flipped out a little at Doug for looking like a bully, or something. That's Dougs side of the story as well. Then Doug later doubled down on that ridic take. Really, call someone a psychopath? Ben86 seems pretty normal, and everyone flips out at least a few times in their life.

Then he repeatedly said in subsequent podcasts that people double down too much these days and arn't inclined to admit they are wrong.

I don't necessarily think Doug is a bully because he's called out some bullshit shenanigans like Dnegs more rake is better delusions. That was certainly not bullying and some douche-nozzles in poker need to be criticized. But he is not as wise and objective as he thinks he is. Anyways, yeah its all for drama and attention at this point. Also, although i would never be friends with charlie carrol in real life, I don't think he deserved the awful treatment that Doug gave him. Was basically a character assassination with spliced footage. Seemed very petty to me.

Ben swindled Doug pretty hard though.

by MastaAces k

So his greed lead him to try and cheat the system by placing bets in others names. And it backfired in him. Hard for me to feel bad
