Talk About Movies: Part 4
Somehow threads merged, so here's part 4 of our ongoing movie discussion.
An interesting theory about Anatomy Of A Fall. We are presented with two choices: either Samuel jumped or Sandra pushed him. But we are never given the possibility of a third option - that Samuel fell - but by accident.
This video gives a compelling argument of the third option:

Poor Things 2023 I finally saw it all. It is a gorgeous looking film. A lot of time, money, and effort were put into set design, costumes, makeup to make an enthralling visual experience. Wonderful colors. The acting is excellent as well. Ruffalo, Dafoe are two my favorite actors and they take their roles seriously here which is a challenge given the fantastical world. Emma Stone is fine as well. Unfortunately Bella seemed to me to be portrayed like an android who is gradually learning how to be a human rather than a young human girl. She walks stiff and talks funny, not like a child though. It was hard to develop any feelings for her. Most of the movie reminded me of a very high end soft core porn movie. The adventures of a virgin who learns more and more about various sexual experiences is a common vehicle in those sorts of movies since the 1970s. The drawbacks of sexual promiscuity and prostitution are ignored. I’m not prudish, but it was hard to take this as serious character development. The movie does elevate above this in some places by addressing the issues of human cruelty. Also at the end ,
It still is a fine movie and that may be Emma's best acting of her film career, but I still prefer Huller.
After some reading, I'm thinking that the best actress Oscar will go to Lily Gladstone in Flower Moon who is Native American. Good year for actresses.
Oscar predictions, not my preference:
best movie-Oppenheimer since it made so much money (not my fav)
best actress-Lilly Gadstone, Flower moon, (still prefer Huller)
best actor- Paul Giamatti for a lifetime of great acting (more of a wish by me)
best director-Nolan for lifetime and box office reasons (not my fav)

1. Seven Samurai
1. A Man for All Seasons
I don't remember A Man For All Seasons. Saw it so long ago.
The others are all great. Fallen Angels might be my favorite of those.

Really like Perfect Days. One huge glaring unpardonable problem with the movie though - the inclusion of the most overplayed piece of **** song Van Morrison ever shat out.
I watched Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans and Wings (the only time Academy Awards awarded co-winners for best picture) are both amazing features that sheds glorious light on the ability of historical Film makers production, artistic skills and storytelling.
