So? You can say a ref sucks and that he is bad at a his job without saying the league that pays you 3.5M a month is rigged lol. Or that sports betting is "ruining the integrity of the game" like Irving said last year. These guys are delusional crybabies.

Donaghy thing was 15 years ago

If you think the league isn't on the up and up, why do you bother following it?

same reason ppl watch pro wrestling i guess

NYK/PHI currently 44-43 with 6 left in the 3rd. Can those particular refs rig some shots going in???

Ugh, now Sengun is ****ed up. That leg/ankle didn't look good

Wtf is going on here. It's common knowledge that the NBA is the closest thing to WWE. And Foster is as corrupt as they come. I'm not complaining btw. It's ok to be an adult and accept the world the way it is.

Gobert is still an idiot tho.

1) sure it's rigged but so what. You're getting paid. Don't bite the hand that feeds you copiously.

2) You absolutely CANNOT take a tech when you're up by 1 in the final minute. I don't care if you're right. I don't care if you just found out the ref murdered your wife. You can't take a tech in that spot ever.

3) Just overall lol@gobert. You're not some social warrior fighting some noble cause spreading truth to the benighted masses. Everyone over 12 knows the nba is rigged to some degree or another.

This. People follow nba to distract them from the fact that life sucks. Let's remind ourselves that we live on a capitalistic planet which means by definition the vast majority of people are going to be stressed out, economically insecure, hopeless and generally miserable. Watching sports helps people forget all that for the moment.

I don't really care to get into the rigged stuff, everyone can have their opinion on that.

My take is more pointing out the absurdity of these guys thinking everyone should be into hero worship and having emotions with laundry and that should be enough for their fandom.

Nah I need to ****ing fire and it needs to ****ing hurt for me to watch y'all run up and down the court and put a ball in a basket. Gee golly what's LeBron's legacy ain't feeding the bulldog so cry about it Gobert, Kyrie and whoever else.

Wonder how turned on Silver was watching that game.

Does LeBron pass Chris Paul in career NBA assists?

Yes +170
No -200

Yes.

I think Zach Edey is going to be a good NBA Player.
Also the NBA's referees definitely (at times) have their own/the league's agendas.

Wow. The Knicks and Suxers played one for the ages.

Oddball thing I noticed.

Out of 30 NBA teams, 18 are currently above .500

Call it the Pistons Principle

People really think Gobert has a point and Scott Foster is rigging games?

I don't think he is literally rigging games and I certainly don't think that game was rigged. I do think that there is some referee bias in favor of marquee players and marquee teams that is indirectly tied to what is best for the league as a consumer product.

Pistons sweep the three game season series from the Charlottetans

Sorry heels

ok but this has nothing to do with sports betting or the legalization of sports betting "hurting" the game or w/e

people have been saying that about the NBA since the early 90s MJ glory years

NBA has no history of game rigging by officials. One of the cleanest sports. What do you think they do, call more fouls for GS in the playoffs?

Congratulations to GOAT coach Gregg Popovich and Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs on being the first team officially eliminated from playoff contention in the Western Conference

I don't know exactly what Donaghy did, but I am not alleging that Scott Foster or any other ref is currently rigging games. I also agree with Onlydo2days that this has little or nothing to do with betting.

I was making the boring observation that there seems to be star treatment for players and teams to some degree. I don't think this is some sort of league mandate. I think it's probably as much subconscious bias on the part of the referees as anything else. When Lebron or Steph complains vehemently about the reffing, I think they are more likely to get the next close call than Matisse Thybulle is if he complains vehemently.

But maybe it's my imagination. It's hard to quantify.

Donaghy openly talked about how the higher up refs wouldn't call fouls on superstars. So he started doing it to "advance".

Somebody said Embiid is averaging more points per minute this year than Chamberlain in his 50 point per game season. They must have had the minutes down to the seconds. I have it Chamberlain in a photo: 1.039 to 1.038 points per minute played. That's just using rounded off minutes played. Pretty scary

** Oh, his point was pre-injury, that last partial game he played, Embiid's points per minute was higher for the season than Chamberlains 50 ppg year.

How many players have averaged 30+ in back-to-back seasons (or multiple seasons at all) while shooting > 50% from the field? That must be a short list of first tier Hall of Famers. SGA is that dude, apparently.

Pacers just took it to OKC. Felt like a playoff game
